A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE ANNA HARDIN AND KELTY ALLEN, ROOMMATES AT THE SOUTH CAROLINA GOVERNOR’S SCHOOL FOR SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS, FOR THEIR AMAZING ACCOMPLISHMENT OF BOTH SCORING A PERFECT 1600 ON THE SAT ON MARCH 16, 2002.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly express their pride in and admiration for Ann Hardin from Rock Hill and Kelty Allen from Lake Wylie, roommates at the Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics in Hartsville, who both scored 1600 on the SAT they took on March 16, 2002; and

Whereas, Kelty Allen and Anna Hardin are also both juniors at the Governor’s School from York County; and

Whereas, the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics is a public boarding school for one hundred twentyeight academically advanced high school juniors and seniors from across the State; and

Whereas, the average SAT score for students at the Governor’s School is slightly over 1350, and although the school has had students score 1600 on the SAT, there has never been two students in the same class, much less the same room until now; and

Whereas, Kelty Allen and Anna Hardin’s room at the Governor’s School is now referred to as “Room 3200”; and

Whereas, the story of these two remarkable and intelligent girls has brought positive national exposure to the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, the General Assembly is proud to recognize these exceptional girls for their incredible accomplishment and wish them great success and happiness in all their future endeavors. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, commend and congratulate Anna Hardin and Kelty Allen, roommates at the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics, for their amazing accomplishment of both scoring a perfect 1600 on the SAT on March 16, 2002.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Anna Hardin and Kelty Allen at the Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics in Hartsville.
