Purpose / This unit standard is intended to be used as an introductory unit standard for those delivering training for adults.
People credited with this unit standard are able to prepare to deliver, deliver, and review group training sessions for adult learners.

Explanatory notes

1Definitions

Group means three or more adult learners.

Stakeholders refer to the learner, and may also include funder, employer, and client organisation.

Organisational requirements refer to the policies, procedures and reporting requirements of the provider and/or client organisation.

2For a unit standard on the design of learning sessions refer to Unit 7093, Design learning sessions for adults. For the assessment of an individual's learning refer to Unit 4098, Use standards to assess candidate performance.

3Assessment against this standard is subject to compliance with organisational requirements.

4Range

Evidence of the delivery of three different learning sessions, of at least 30 minutes teaching time per session is required for this unit standard.

Outcome 1

Prepare to deliver group training sessions for adult learners.

Evidence requirements

1.1Learning outcomes that suit intended learner needs and expectations are confirmed with stakeholders.

1.2Supporting material is prepared in order to assist achievement of the learning outcomes.

Rangeincludes but is not limited to – training plan, venue details, resources, training evaluation material.

1.3Possible learning barriers and differences in learning style are anticipated and addressed in planning.

1.4Delivery and assessment methods are selected to meet agreed learning outcomes and suit the training venue.

1.5Criteria for reviewing training sessions are established and documented in accordance with organisational requirements.

Deliver group training sessions for adult learners.

Evidence requirements

2.1Learners are advised of learning outcomes, sequence of learning activities, and intended assessment processes.

2.2A range of training processes are incorporated into the delivery.

Rangemay include but is not limited to – delivering information, explanation, demonstration, interaction, learner practice, consolidation.

2.3A positive learning environment is created and maintained.

Rangepositive learning environment includes but is not limited to – participation, resource availability, pace, two-way communication, a monitoring process, assessment opportunities.

2.4The achievement of learning outcomes is measured by formative assessment.

Review group training sessions for adult learners.

Evidence requirements

3.1Stakeholder feedback on training sessions is sought and analysed against review criteria.

Rangemay include but is not limited to – achievement of outcomes, organisation, delivery, content, location, interaction, opportunities to practise;

evidence of three is required.

3.2Stakeholder feedback and self-review of the learning presentations are recorded in accordance with organisational requirements and any areas for future refinement are identified.

Rangestakeholder feedback and self-review include – documentation of action plans, delivery, provision of learner support.
