Purpose

This qualification is designed for people who already have some experience in the pork industry and who wish to further their skills in the area of pig husbandry for both indoor and outdoor pork production units.

They will also have knowledge of feeds, feeding systems, methods, and levels for pigs; pig health, health problems, behaviour, welfare and biosecurity procedures; pig anatomy and physiology; pork production unit waste; the relationship between handling and behaviour, and productivity; and weaning, and grower and weaner pig husbandry.

People will select the standard which is applicable to their workplace or personal development requirements.

People may already have completed the National Certificate in Pork Production (Stockperson) (Level 2) [Ref: 0964] prior to award of this qualification.
