Explanatory notes

Outcomes and evidence requirements

Outcome 1

Demonstrate knowledge of quilting and fluting operations in the canvas fabrication and allied industries.

Evidence requirements

1.1Quilting and fluting patterns are drawn according to job specifications and company policy.

1.2Quilting and fluting allowance calculations are made according to job specifications and company policy.

1.3Quilting and fluting fabrics are identified according to manufacturer’s specifications.

Rangeouter fabric, inner filler, liner, cotton, calico, nylon, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyfoam.

1.4Method for sewing quilt and flute are demonstrated according to company policy.

Outcome 2

Apply quilting and fluting in the canvas fabrication and allied industries.

Evidence requirements

2.1Fabric for product is selected according to job specification and company policy.

2.2Pattern to be applied is determined from client and/or workplace requirement.

2.3Fabric is cut to size for the product with quilt flute allowances according to company policy.

2.4Pattern is marked out and sewn to line according to company policy.

2.5Safe working practices are carried out throughout the task.
