Cereal Box Design

Objective:

Create a realistic cereal box design using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Publisher.

May work in groups of 2-3

Steps:

1.  Use existing cereal boxes in room. Study each side panel.

2.  Come up with a “new” cereal name and slogan. (Ad line) for your new cereal.

3.  You may use an existing cereal company (Kellogg’s, Post, General Mills, Quaker, etc.) For example, Post’s has a new cereal call “Honey Nut BetteO’s”

4.  Use Publisher for the actual document. You may want to use 2 document files – 1 for the front and back sides of cereal box, and 2 for each of the side panels of box.

5.  Design images using Photoshop. Remember if you are printing you want to use a resolution of 300 pixels and set the mode to “CMYK” . Make sure you save final image documents as .jpg files. Copy and paste them to your Publisher documents.

6.  Use Illustrator for large text, logos, 3D designs, etc.

7.  Create each side panel of cereal box, front, back, etc. You must include nutritional information, ingredients, etc.

8.  Print publication documents and glue to the existing cereal boxes.
