NSS FLC Application Form 2015-2016

Name: ______Grade : ______

Introduction

The Facilitated Learning Centre (FLC) is a resource room for senior students (Grades 11 and 12) to access courses that are not offered in the school’s timetable. As a small secondary school we aim to offer as many courses as possible in class but there are courses that students need for their post-secondary plans that are not offered. The FLC is for students who are highly motivated to complete courses, who can manage their own time and who are independent learners. Students will also need to be able to read large amounts of material online. Learning in the FLC does not suit everyone’s style of learning and much of the responsibility for progress depends on the individual’s motivation and commitment.

Please note students in the FLC will receive grades on their report cardseach term in 2015-2016. These grades are cumulative and reflect course completion. Students are required to complete each module or unit, including the exam, before progressing further within a course. Students are expected to complete 25% of the course each term, or 50% of the course each semester. If the course is not completed by the end of Term 4, then students will fail the course as any other course.
