Course Revision Short Form

This form may be used to make minor revisions to an existing approved WestHillsCollegeCoalinga course within the following provisions:

  1. This form may not be used for changes that impact the Rule of Five: course prefix, number, title, units, transfer.
  2. Changes in prerequisite(s) or corequisite(s) changes will require all pertinent forms that are affected by the revision to be resubmitted with this document.
  3. A justification statement must be completed.
  4. This form is not to be used where changes in the course content or objectives would essentially be creating a new course. Use only one course per Short Form.
  5. Textbook changes do not require curriculum committee approval, only being informed of the change. (No curriculum committee action is needed.)
  6. Each change must be shown individually in the below format style.

Change From: English 105B is a secondary level writing course designed for students who are continuing to refine their writing process. Students will begin the semester with a focus on well-developed paragraphs that utilize various organizational patterns. Students will then transition to a 200 word essay that includes an introduction, body, and conclusion. In addition, students will review grammar, punctuation, and standard English usage. Self- paced computer assisted tutorials as well as activities will be utilized throughout the semester. This course is preparation for English 51A and may not be skipped without an English instructor’s consent or retaking the placement test and scoring into English 51A.

Change To: English 105B is a secondary level writing course designed for students who are continuing to refine their writing process. Justification: Prerequisites are not part of the Catalog Description, and “standard” English should be capitalized; thus, the change to Standard English
