Content:Maize breeding, the use of molecular markers in plant breeding, plant biotechnology, genetic transformation and new breeding techniques of maize, biotic and abiotic stresses affecting the growth of maize, crops safety, risk assessment, plant phenotyping, bio-informatics ….

The program will contain lectures by experts, practical exercises, (group) presentations by the participants and visits to labs, breeding fields and GMO field trials.

Target audience:Students, scientists and professionals from the public and industrial sector, who are involved in maize improvement or biotechnology regulatory programs.

VLIR-UOS scholarships

A number of scholarships with support from VLIR-UOS for accommodation and travel expenses are available for applicants from the VLIR country list (see below). Preference will be given to participants from Africa who are professionally involved in the topic (maize breeding, regulatory aspects,etc. ).
