JOB DESCRIPTION

POST:Head Chef

Grade: £17,000annuallypro rata

Hours:25hours Monday to Friday

(With the intention to increase to 37 hours)

SERVICE AREA: Whitworth Care Trust

JOB PURPOSE: Ensure theeffective operation ofthe catering social enterprise services delivered from the Whitworth Care Trust

To support a team of volunteers

RESPONSIBLE TO: Care and NewBusiness Manager

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Volunteers

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. The creation of a nutritionally balanced winter and summer menu offering value for money and developed in consultation with service users
  1. Toensureall kitchen orders stock in line with the budget and menu plans.
  1. To oversee the collection of monies, banking and monthly banking sheets.
  1. To source local produce where possible ensuring value for money
  1. The ordering of all food, weekly stock take and rotation of stock.
  1. To assist with the recruitmentof volunteers
  1. To provide training and support to a team of volunteerson a daily basis
  1. To manage rotas to ensure sufficient volunteers to cover all aspects of the service; kitchen and front of houseserving
  1. To support the business manager in developing,implementing and maintaining policies and procedures relating to the service.
  1. To ensure the promotion of general well-being amongst service users and customers
  1. Ensure Health and safety regulations including COSH and Food Hygiene and maintained and recorded
  1. To carrying outroutine inspections on the site and evidence
  1. To carry out an annual check of equipment against the Inventory.
  1. Overall responsibility for the cleanliness of all catering equipment within the services delivered from the site
  1. To manage and respond to all new catering enquiries for the luncheon club, meals on wheels and outside catering
  1. To increase maximise the income into the business by increasing the number of luncheon clubs offered from the site and meals on wheels
  1. To provide an outside catering offer and manage this effectively ensuring an increase in revenue to the business
  1. To support the business manager in promoting the services to the wider community, commissioners, potential customers
  1. To maintain and update accurate records and files in all work areas, providing reports, statistics and information in line with guidelines.
  1. To maintain an awareness of legislation, circulars and other information regarding
  1. To actively contribute to the development of the service
  1. To work outside normal office hours as necessary to undertake the duties of the post
  1. To undertake such other duties as may be required to fulfil the job purpose
