Unit N: PowerPoint 2010 – Graded Assignment

Assignment: Create an original PowerPoint presentation about yourself. The presentation must meet the following criteria:

1.  Contains a title slide including: a) a title for the presentation, b) the current date, and c) your name in the slide footer.

2.  Contains at least 3 content slides meeting the following criteria: a) a title for the slide, b) 3 to 6 bulleted items of 6 words or less for each bullet. One content slide may contain a descriptive paragraph or a quote.

3.  A concluding slide “wraps up” the presentation (bulleted list or description or quote).

4.  At least one slide must include a picture downloaded from the Internet

a.  Search the Internet for a picture of your choice, continue to click on the picture until it is displayed full-size in the source document or by itself on the page (in Google, click the “show full-size” link). NOTE: Picture must be from another source (not a picture of your own) and it must be accessible without logging into any online accounts.

b.  Right-click on the picture and select Save picture as…. Leave the browser window open as you will need it later.

c.  Once the picture is saved, return to PowerPoint and insert it into your presentation (Insert > Picture).

5.  The Internet picture must be linked to the source (A search engine is NOT the source, you must continue to click on the picture or use the “show full-size” link to get to the source):

a.  Once the picture is inserted in the presentation, right click on the picture and choose Hyperlink.

b.  Copy the URL for the image to the Address box of the Insert Hyperlink Dialog:

i.  Use the taskbar to return to the browser window where the picture is displayed.

ii.  Copy the URL from the browser.

iii.  Return to PowerPoint and paste the URL in the Address box of the Insert Hyperlink dialog box.

6.  No more than 7 slides total

7.  Clipart and/or images must be included throughout the presentation (more than ½ the slides). All pictures from the Internet must be linked to the source.

8.  Formatting of text and background does not detract from readability. Use fonts that are easy to read and use them consistently. Also use high contrast between font color and background color.

9.  Slide transitions and custom animations must be included throughout the presentation (more than ½ of the slides):

o  Slide transitions occur on mouse click, not automatically. If no transitions are applied, the mouse click option will receive zero points.

o  Animations occur automatically (the viewer should not have to click to start animation)

10.  At least one sound effect is used in the presentation
