Who?: It S All About YOU! You Are Both the Writer and the Main Character

ALPHABIOGRAPHY

  • What?: An Alphabiography tells the stories of your life in 26 entries (one for each letter of the alphabet), with each entry focusing on a person, place, thing or event that is important to you.
  • Who?: It’s all about YOU! You are both the writer and the main character.
  • When?: A calendar of due dates will be given out each month. The final project is due ______.
  • Where?: Some work will be done in the classroom; you may do some at home.
  • Why?: The purpose of the assignment is to reflect on your life and tell the reader your story.
  • How?: You will write it in alphabetical order. Each chapter will have a title that begins with a new letter of the alphabet.
  • Example: F could be for Family, Friends, Football, a Ford-150, etc.
  • Example: B is for Basketball
  • Requirements:
  • 26 Entries – There are 26 letters in the alphabet. You will write one “chapter” per letter.
  • One Page – Each entry receives its own typed page. You will share these with me in chrome and I will print them for you. Or, you may log into your drive from a desktop computer and print from there (library or classroom computer)
  • Length – Each entry must be at least one paragraph but can be more.
  • Title – Each entry needs an appropriate title with the chosen letter displayed prominently.

For example, a title for be would look like :

B for Basketball

  • Neatness – Each entry must be typed
  • Picture – Each entry must have a picture or piece of art (on the page) that connects to the story. You may add the artwork after I return the printed sheet to you, or if you are printing the pages you may do the artwork before you turn it in.
  • Front Cover – you will design a cover for your book and turn it in prior to finishing the letter Z.
  • This is a yearlong project. You will complete a few letters each month. You may work ahead if you choose to do so, and you may work at home. You will receive progress grades each month for the letters that are assigned to you that month. Your Alphabiography will be completed at the end of the year and will be sent home for you to share with your family.
