Who Cares? for young carers

A new mobile app has been developed for young carers. It is now available to download for free from the App store or Google Play.

TheWho Cares? app is designed to help young people who have a caring role in their family or for friends, from age12 through to young adults. NSW has over 100,000 young carers in NSW under 25 years, and this app will help to help them to recognise their caring role, and to get some support.

It holds lots of real young carer stories and voices that young people will be able to identify with. It also has information to help professionals working with young people, like teachers and health practitioners to know how to recognise young carers, and importantly how to support them.

Through its social media sharing functions (Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook), the app will help to build awareness about the unique experiences of young carers and what we can all do to support them.

Who Cares? was launched by Minister Ajaka on 2 October 2015 at Western Sydney University. It has been developed by FACS in partnership with Carers NSW and the Department of Finance, Services and Innovation through the Apps4NSW competition. The app is one of 16 projects in the NSW Carers Strategy 2014-19.
