R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The Mount Vernon Independent School District is one of the strongest in the Lone Star State, and its many fine educators are most worthy of special praise; and

WHEREAS, These outstanding educators have played an integral role in helping each school within the district to receive an exemplary rating from the State of Texas; moreover, Mount Vernon Elementary School was one of only eight schools in the state to earn Recognized Honor School distinction from the Texas Business and Education Coalition; and

WHEREAS, The achievements of the school district would not have been possible without the leadership and dedication demonstrated by the educators at the high school, junior high and intermediate school, and elementary school levels; and

WHEREAS, At Mount Vernon High School, invaluable contributions have been made by principal Ben Tyler, assistant principal Rick Flanagan, Lori Bailey, Kelly Baird, Martin Bass, Anna Elliott, Karen Elmore, Brad Floyd, Debra Gage, Holly Garrett, Wayne Hackney, Bruce Hunnicutt, Becky Hunnicutt, Shane Ingram, Cindy Kent, Stephen Ladd, Minnie Laughton, David Maxton, Linda Mayer, Jacky Mayfield, Terry McGonagill, Dickie Meeks, Kristy Miller, Pat Norris, Linda Owens, Jimmy Oxford, Karen Phillips, Shannon Plantinga, Debra Puryear, Doloris Robinson, Connie Roach, Marsha Romines, Kathryn Self, Loyd Stewart, Tracy Stewart, Jerry Stuart, Donnie Surratt, Charles Swann, Robert Taylor, Craig Watson, and Danny Yarbrough; and

WHEREAS, Faculty and other staff members that have had a positive impact at Mount Vernon Junior High School include principal Danny Willis, Byron Bass, Dana Bohlken, Kathy Cannon, Holley Clay, Johnna Fomby, Tammy Gamblin, Michelle Hargrove, John Hefner, Susan Hefner, Linda Michener, Dena Neal, Ceca Patrick, Donald Patrick, Lisa Ramsey, Mandy Simpson, Robin Sims, John Singleton, Jim Solomon, Ronnie Stoker, Craig Stuart, Lynda Wood, and Linda Yarbrough; Mount Vernon Intermediate School benefits from the dedication of principal Tim Evans, Tomye Adair, Lynda Baird, SuFran Bass, Ann Blair, Nicole Blair, Brandie Craver, Stacie Davis, Carolyn Flora, Kay Gray, Carla Hines, Susan Huizinga, Jeanne Lawrence, Rita Long, Grace Lyons, Marti McCoy, Joan McPeak, Bilie Moseley, Janice Newsome, Brenda Parr, Sandy Stinson, Vanessa Stoker, Vickie Surratt, and Lisa Taylor; and

WHEREAS, Distinguished educators at Mount Vernon Elementary School include principal David Rains, Susan Bass, Carol Bassham, Adrian Bolin, Vickie Burns, Kathy Byrd, Tina Carter, Michele Chitsey, Lynn Christenberry, Mary Dietz, Debbie Duenkel, Marilyn Elbert, Robin Floyd, Kristi Foster, Sandra Hackney, Jackie Herrmann, Dana Ladd, Cindy Maxton, Kristen Mayes, Vicki Mayfield, Dorothy McAuley, Jennifer McGahee, Debbie Meeks, Rhonda Menefee, Lynne Overstreet, Bonnie Redfearn, Debbie Rowland, Yvonne Scott, Lana Slaughter, Virginia Stotts, Jennifer Sumrow, Linda Talley, Kathie Thompson, and Connie Wafford; and

WHEREAS, Public education is an endeavor in which all Texans have a stake, and it is fitting to pay tribute to those individuals who devote themselves to the academic development of our state's young people; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas Legislature hereby honor the Mount Vernon Independent School District and its esteemed educators and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Mount Vernon Independent School District as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
