What’s New at Bogue Banks Water?

Thank you for being such a valued customer! We sincerely appreciate you, and hope that you are doing well! How do you like our new colorful full size bill statement? We hope you find it easier to read and understand, but please call us if you have any questions about your account or your bill!

New Updated Backflow Policy

We have implemented an updated backflow prevention/cross contamination policy to insure all connections with potential moderate or severe hazards are protected. In looking at what the NCDEQrequires, and at our own unique situation here on the island, our Board of Directors has determined that backflow prevention devices need to be installed at any property that meets the following criteria:

-Waterfront (See details in full policy)

- Irrigation systems not on a shallow well

- All swimming pools and hot tubs without a apermanent air gap

All properties served by BBWC will be inspected by a BBWC Inspector who will determine if a potential hazard exists. BBWC will notify homeowners if a backflow prevention device is needed after inspection. We encourage you to go to visit to read this policy in its entirety.

BBWC will offer backflow devices and covers at cost to homeowners in our office. RPZ installation diagram is available online.

BBWC Valve? Or Customer Valve?

The BBWC Shut-OffValves are not designed for frequent use, they will wear out and break. For this reason, we require every property to have a functioning customer valve in place atthe street. This is the valve you shoulduse any time you need to turn off the water, neveruse the BBWC Shut-OffValve. Beginning October 1st, 2016, BBWC will consider use of our Shut-Off Valve meter tampering. Due to the expense and labor involved when one of our valves or meters break, a meter tampering fee of $200 will be charged to the homeowners account for the first offense, and $500 for a second offense. Please read more about this in our BBWC Policies & Procedures, Item #2, found on our website as well. If you need water shut off for repair of your customer valve, please call the office to schedule a time for a BBWC tech to come out.

Water Conservation during a power outage

When the power goes out, the water still flows! BBWC has generators to continue to provide water during an outage, but at a limited supply. Please practice water conservation measures the next you’re in a power outage!
