There is a range of support available in the Open Learning Centre. Below is an explanation of the support and activities that are offered. A timetable is displayed in the Open Learning Centre and on i-Learn, showing current times when this support is available.

Support / Activity / Explanation
/ During drop-in hours a teacher is available, who canhelp you with study skills, job search, basic computer skills, finding self-study resources online, developing your literacy, numeracy or ESOL, or help you make an appointment with the Careers Service or with Additional Learning Support.
/ Workshops, (for example ICT workshops) are open to everyone and you do not need to book in advance; however these are designed to support small groups of learners and spaces are restricted so if the workshop is full, we may need to ask you to come back at a different time, or wait until we are able to put on additional workshops.
/ An advisor from the National Careers Service is based at WMC one day a week to provide 1-2-1 careers advice and guidance.
/ These conversation clubs are short evening courses – to join you need to enrol.
Additional Learning Support / Although not shown on the OLC timetable, Additional Learning Support (ALS) assistants will be running small group or individual ALS sessions at various times throughout the day and you can always ask them for help. If they are unable to help you at the time, they will suggest a time when you can come and get help from a teacher. If you think you may need ongoing help and may qualify for ALS, they can also arrange an ALS assessment for you.
