WEST OAKLAND ORGANIZATIONS COME OUT TO PLAY WITH FIRE

The Crucible Hosts Its 10th Annual Fall Community Open House Expo & Art Show

OAKLAND, September 2, 2010 — The Crucible ( will host its 10th annual Fall Community Open House on Saturday, September 11, 2010 from 12-4pm, which will host an expo of community organizations based in or serving West Oakland and bringing vital and important services to this vibrant neighborhood. The event will feature live demonstrations of The Crucible’s industrial art disciplines such as blacksmithing, welding, glass working, wood, ceramics, kinetics and more. Also highlighted will be a student and faculty art show and stage demonstrations of fire performances.

Anyone wishing to learn more about The Crucible, explore industrial arts processes, or see the kind of artworkthat is created at The Crucible would be hard pressed to find a better opportunity. The following local organizations will also be in attendance:Civic Pride, Kinetic Arts Center, Oakland Pride, Oakland School for the Arts, People’s Community Partnership Federal Credit Union, Richmond Spokes, Scotland Youth and Family Center, Studio One, West Oakland Library and West Oakland Senior. Refreshments will be available, and admission is free.
