West Norfolk Hunt Branch

January 2018

Dear Members

A Happy New Year to you all, I hope you had a lovely Christmas.

Membership Renewals.

These are now due and should be sent to Pip Case ASAP, please ensure you have a 2018 form. These are available to download on the new WNPC website at Please do fill out the GiftAid box as it really does help us fund our camps and rallies most of which currently run at a loss due to the increasing costs of venues and stable hire costs. We can take payment by cheque or by BACS but please email Pip when paying by BACS and remember that she still needs you to post her your completed form. You will notice that it is no longer possible to buy PC items such as badges, ties, manuals from us, please order them direct at the online Pony Club shop at:

New Website and Online Entry and payment System

In response to your requests to make online entries we have changed our website to enable our members to use the Pony Club Event Entry system. Entries for all WNPC events/rallies/competitions from February half-term must be made on this system (excluding Winter Dressage on 11th February). We will no longer be able to accept any entries on paper or by email. Entry for all three camps must also be made using the online booking system however payment for camps will be by installments so will continue to be by either cheque or by BACS. More details on how to use the system are available at

In order to use the online booking system you will need to have a PayPal account and also to type in your child’s specific Pony Club Membership number which you should have all received by email earlier this month. They will be emailed out to you again as soon as you renew your membership. We recognise that there are likely to be some teething issues for you, and for us,while we move to the new system and apologise for any inconvenience caused. The good news is that many other branches have already made the move and report back that it saves a lot of time and energy for all.

Importantly can I please urge you to enter our events in February half term ASAP to avoid any being cancelled due to lack of entries.

Teams.

Please put your name forward and remember if you wish to do teams and enter the events at half term, specifically the Winter Dressage League on 11 th Feb and the WNPC Indoor Showjumping competition at Forest Edge on 15th Feb when the selection process will start. All team members must have attended at least three working rallies in the prior year. Note that all parents of team members will be expected to help at rallies and training this year. A team selection and training process will be emailed out to you and posted onto our website before Easter.

The committee and a small group of helpers work tirelessly to provide equine education, friendship and fun for all members of the pony club. BUT WE NEED MORE HELP with every parent to help with at least one event. Below is a list of areas in which you could help. Do it with a friend it makes it more fun!!!

Help to organise a rallyor competition. This is not complicated and any one can do it whether horsey or not. We need volunteers to take entries on the day and run the collecting ring and put up the poles, commentate, score, take photographs and put them onto our website.

Help to run a fun event such as a countryside ride, a Christmas party, the awards evening, a quiz evening.

Catering at rallies camps or events (eg making and serving tea, coffee, packed lunches, instructor lunches and CAKES). Dads we need BBQ ers and night patrollers.

Jump building (making new jumps or renovating the ones we have)

Setting up for rallies, camps, competitions, rides etc. (putting up arenas, mowing grass, moving caravans, setting up jumps)

Clearing up after events – the more hands the quicker it takes. All helpers welcome at every event please, as an extra 15 minutes from everyone means 3 hours less for the organiser.

Transporting jumps (ie pulling the jump trailer)

IT work on our database and website

Securing Advertising and or Sponsorship for our events.

and anything else you can think of.

Finally, Juliet would like you all to know that she will be stepping back from all Pony Club activities for a few months due to ill health and I hope you will join me in wishing her a speedy recovery.

Have a good time with your ponies and plenty of fun.

Joanna Brown
