TeamKid Basketball Information
January-March 2012
TeamKid Sports participates in two separate leagues. The Tadpole league is independently run by Second Baptist Church and is for children ages 4-6 (Pre-K/K), though a three-year old can join if he/she turns four during the sport season. Children 7-13 (1st-6th grade) play through the West Houston Christian Sports League.

Dates: Saturdays from January 7 to March 3
League Format
The WHCSA is made up of several churches in the West Houston area. Most of the churches are within a 10 minute drive of Second Baptist Church - Woodway Campus. Teams from the various churches will play against the others in their age division.
Registration
Registration for Basketball will open September 30th and close November 11th. You will be able to sign up online through the Second Baptist Church website.
Payment
League fees are $120 per player and will be available to be paid through registration. If you sign up and are not able to participate due to schedule conflicts, you must inform the league before November 11th, when registration closes. No refunds can be given after that day.
Team Selection
Each player has two teammate requests included in their registration. The league will make its best effort to grant every request. However, these requests are not guaranteed. The league will base the team forming process around these requests, along with the specific needs of each child and team. All final rosters are decided by the league. Players may not switch teams. Refunds will not be given to participants who leave the league after November 11th due to dissatisfaction with assigned teams.
Coaching
Teams are coached by parents. During registration, parents have the option to volunteer. If multiple parents volunteer, duties can be split. Someone other than a parent may coach, but may not be paid for their services and must be 21 years of age or older. Anyone interested in coaching, including parents, must complete the background check that is included with the registration. Coaches will be confirmed by the league upon completion of the background check and given more details at that time. The league reserves the right to relieve coaches of their duties for any reason it deems necessary.
Practice
Practice will be held at Second Baptist Church. Due to the high demand of the courts, teams will have a minimum of one practice per week, lasting one hour. Typically, practice take place one day a week between 5:30 and 7:30 PM Monday-Thursday with additional slots on Sunday afternoons. Teams may not schedule additional practice time until all teams have times reserved.
Uniforms
Basketball jerseys and shorts are included in the costs of the league. Uniform sizes will be taken at registration.
Teams/Schedule
Team rosters and schedules will be announced in early-mid December.
Rules
Coaches will receive the league packet, which includes league rules, at the coaches meeting before the season.
Pictures
Picture day is to be determined. Times will be set in coordination with game schedules.
Additional Information
Players are allowed to “play-up” one grade level. For instance, a player in Kindergarten may play up in the 1st grade level if the parent feels this is the right move. Please keep in mind, however, that once teams are formed, players may not switch to a different grade level.
