Over seventeen years' experience in the transport industry since obtaining a Master’s degree in Mathematics. Key experience within the railway industry includes the preparation of signaling scheme sketches and plans, bonding design, circuit design, report writing and correlation activities.

Duties include preparation and production of new and modified signalling scheme, location area and bonding plans, signal spacing and braking distance calculations, risk assessments, site surveys and correlation, and report writing.Relevant projects have included, but are not limited to, the following:
  • West Ealing Sidings (AIP),
  • Marsh Barton Station (GRIP 4-8),
  • Tyne and Wear Metro Level Crossing Risk Assessments,
  • Beckton Depot Maintenance Shed Extension (GRIP 2-8 equivalent),
  • Doncaster Hitachi IEP Depot Cross Boundary Interface Project (AIP),
  • Brent Cross Station (GRIP 3),
  • Allerton Depot Bonding Project.
Project work is carried out in accordance with all relevant Railway Group and Company Standards,using Bentley MicroStation V8i and SSL Plans v6.
Kimberley holds an IRSE Licence in the role of Signalling Designer.
Jan 2011 to April 2011 Signalling Survey Engineer, Ridgeway Consulting
Assigned to work for Kilborn Consulting Limited as a member of a small team of railway signaling engineers working on the Thameslink project on behalf of Network Rail. The role included a series of correlation activities and the preparation of associated Correlation Reports.
Sep 2004 to Dec 2010 Transport Planner, Atkins
Main experience in strategic highway modelling with additional experience in micro-simulation modelling and economic appraisal. The role includes the development and application of strategic and micro-simulation models, demand forecasting, variable demand modelling and scheme appraisal. Project management experience includes project scoping and costing, maintaining client relationships monitoring project spend and managing junior staff. Key clients include Somerset County Council, the Olympic Delivery Authority and overseas clients in the Middle East.
During this time, Kimberley was seconded to the PRISM Joint Application Team as a Transport Modeller, towork on the Policy Responsive Strategic Model of the West Midlands. The role included research and development of highway modelling techniques, model development and application, and appraisal of travel responses to network intervention and land use policy.

Kimberley worked on a part-time basis during her University holidays assisting a team of railway signalling engineers working on projects to ensure the safety and reliability of signalling systems on the UK railway network. The role included software development to analyse and test new signalling systems prior to implementation and the development of a simulated signal box.
