From Our Pastor

My dear friends in Christ,

Pope Francis has named Bishop Joseph M. Siegel, D.D., S.T.L. Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Joliet, as our new Bishop. The announcement was publicized in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, October 18th by Archbishop Christophe Pierrre, apostolic nuncio to the United States. Bishop Siegel’s installation as the sixth Bishop of the Diocese of Evansville will be on Friday, December 15th. Please join me in wishing Bishop Siegel a warm welcome to our diocese!

The Fall Festival is this Sunday, October 22nd!! We are happy to host the Loogootee School Choir grades 7 to 12 for our main event. The Choir always gives an outstanding performance that I know everyone will enjoy. Rumor has it that Taiya Armstrong, Cora Hedrick, Jamison Hennette, and Carson Rayhill, will be among the headliners. We are so blessed to have so many talented students in our parish. I look forward to seeing you at the Fall Festival for delicious food, entertainment and fellowship! Faith, Family, Friends!!

Thank you for your generous support of the Stewards of God’s Grace Capital Campaign. To date we have pledges totaling $843,295.00. We now have achieved over 125% of the goal which means anything over $669,555.00 will be returned to the parish 100%. The letters went out, some have been phoned, some have been visited and some have yet to be heard from.

I appreciate everyone’s cooperation and involvement. We will continue to work together to make our Lord more present in our community and diocese. We do plan to contact every household of the parish. Please pray about your gift and we thank Almighty God for all that He has given us!

October is a special month in which we honor our Blessed Mother, with the recitation of the rosary. During this month I would suggest praying the rosary as a family or other prayers to honor Mary. Also, take advantage of praying the rosary on the Tuesdays of October at 6:00 p.m. at the St. Martin Church shrine. Mary, Seat of Wisdom, pray for us.

May the Lord bless and keep you,- Father Walker.
