First Assignment (10%)
This is the assignment that you will complete here and submit to us in order to become registered in this course. It is worth 10% of your final mark so it is a significant assignment which you should carefully complete. After your First Assignment and Registration Form have been reviewed, you will be enrolled in the course and will receive an email from your teacher with information to help you get started.
Communicative Learning Component using Rosetta Stone (72%)
You will complete eight units of Rosetta Stone; each unit is worth 9% for a total of 72% of
your course. Your Rosetta Stone account will be set up AFTER you have been registered in this course.The log-in information will be emailed to you at that time. Creative Works Component (9%)
For the Creative Works project, students explore or respond to a work of art; this could be visual art (e.g. painting, sculpture); literature (e.g. books, comics, plays); music (e.g. a singer or band, a famous composer); or film (e.g. a movie, a famous actor).The objective of this component is that students explore a topic of interest to them and present what they have learned in their preferred format. The Creative Works project will be completed after you have been registered in the course (the instructions for this assignment will be available on the homepage of your course).

Connections to Learning BLOG Component (9%)
While learning a new language, it is important to develop some language learning strategies.Throughout your work in your Italian 12 course, you will be maintaining a blog
in your online course.You will also develop a word bank of useful expressions that you can access during and after the completion of your work on Rosetta Stone.The blog is like a digital notebook or journal that a person might keep when learning a new language.You could also make notes on your blog about how the learning is going for you; you could make vocabulary notes of words that you want to remember or any other points that will help you and you could also record notes on your blog while doing research and gathering information for your Creative Works project. Further instructions for the blog will be provided in your online course once you have been registered in the course.

BLOG Evaluation:
You will be evaluated on your post frequency and quality (please see the chart below).One requirement for your blog is that you will process and practice what you are learning on Rosetta Stone. As you work through the lessons on Rosetta Stone, little by little, you will be able to write more in your language of study.To earn 86% - 100% (an ‘A’), there should be evidence in your blog of increased acquisition of the language.

Sembra tanto tempo dall'ultima volta che ti ho visto. che è stato solo diverse settimane da quando ti ho vista. Finora la mia estate è stata grande!
Trascorro la mia tutti i miei week-end in spiaggia. Ricevo una bella abbronzatura e non puoi più dire che sono più pallido di te. Ho giocato un sacco di pallavolo, surf e la costruzione di una bella collezione di conchiglie di mare. PART F: Cultural Studies Project

Your research and project may be completed in English or Italian.

Why are you studying a second (or third or fourth) language? Since everylanguage and its culture are intertwined, studying another language is ultimately about connecting with another culture. Furthermore, to effectively use a language, one must understand the cultural context in which the communication takes place. In Part D, you will have the opportunity to learn about another culture..The objective of this Cultural Project is that students explore a topic of interest
to them and present what they have learned in a presentation (use Prezi or Google Slide for a presentation and insert the link in the space provided below) or essay (insert your completed essay in the space provided below).Generally, for the Cultural Studies project,students will explore an aspect of the culture (e.g. food, famous sights, sports, fashion, etc.).The Cultural Studies project is very open so that students can choose their topic as well as their method of presentation. It should take about five to seven hours to complete the project – that includes time spent researching, reading, etc. as well as creating the final project that you will submit for this First Assignment. There are some suggestions in the instructions below. Please also see the rubric at the end of this document that is used in the evaluation of the projects so that you can make sure that you include all of the required elements. The top row shows the highest rating, called Proficient.

Step 1: Choose a cultural area to study. Here is a list of ideas and topics:
