Fall 2016
Dear EDL 570 Students,
Here is an early update regarding the course. As noted in our syllabus, our first seminar will be on August 16th at 5:30pm (see details in the syllabus and in Blackboard). This seminar is offered a bit early as students often plan to accrue hours in their internship schools prior to the start of the university semester schedule. Directions and details about attending (or accessing online) the seminars are highlighted in the syllabus (please note that these seminars are hosted in the nearby Teaching Lab building- directions and specifics are in the syllabus).
In summary, as you begin the course, please be sure to do the following:
1.) Review the Administrative Internship Overview slideshow and EDL 570 syllabus; this should take about 20 minutes. Please share this with your internship supervising principal(s) for their review as well. Two updates to this “previously-recorded seminar overview”: we now require 350 site hours per semester, and the dates to the seminars will be updated. It is recommended that you watch this together and review the course syllabus. Time sheets and the coaching plan are available in the Welcome Folder in Blackboard.
2.) Directions on how to access Blackboard (Bb)- See directions below regarding how to access our online course. For tech help, contact
3.) Next, submit the signed Principal Permission Form which is found in Blackboard (Bb) via the Bb link (in the Welcome folder). After your principal signs this form, simply scan and then attach it in the respective assignment link. Please attach or upload all documents (journals, forms, etc.) via Bb.
4.) Review the information in Bb about the seminars (3 per semester), Hallmark drafts due dates, journals (12 per semester), and site visits (minimum of two per semester).
5.) Parking- Students are responsible for parking and transportation; please contact the UNCW Parking department to find out what plan works best for you.
6.) Attendance for seminars: Your attendance- either in person or online, is very important (see syllabus). Please let your instructor know if you are not going to be present; it is possible to watch these recorded seminars afterwards, though it is optimal if you are present (even if online) to be able to discuss and engage with the class, guest speakers, etc.
If you have any questions about this process, please e-mail your instructor for further directions.
