Freelance work at clients ranging from marketing companies to design agencies including:

October 2000-April 2007: Gabriel Communications Ltd

WEB DESIGNER/IT SUPERVISOR 2003 - April 2007 (compulsory redundancy)
Sole responsibility for all of Gabriel Communications online services, including the design, development and build, from concept to completion, of eight websites, including the integration of CMS and secure online store, all SEO, the design of customer web advertising, plus all IT maintenance and administrative duties.

Key construction elements were:

Dreamweaver;page construction in various formats (html, xml, xslt, php, shtml and css) depending upon the specific requirements within the sites.

Javascript; coding including in various page elements to improve dynamic content.

PHP and MySQL; for the integration of a secure online store, Content Management System and searchable online databases for electronic versions of company publications.

Photoshop and Illustrator; for the design of logos and photo manipulation.

Flash; for the design of animated features and online advertising.

Other responsibilities included the daily updating of all content, targeting and implementing areas of improvement and improving usability, all to strict financial guidelines and timeframes. Also responsible for providing statistical analysis/reports to the sales and management teams.

Achievements in this role include a successful, secure, online publication/subscription ordering service, the integration of a paid, members only area of the website, again subscribed to securely online, and generating site traffic on the main website in excess of 500,000 visitors in 2006.

Skills gained in this role include:

• Web Design: Sound knowledge of Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, HTML, XML,CSS, with general hnowledge of PHP and MySQL.Significant knowledge of web design and build, from basic to dynamic web pages, animated graphics, through to online databases, secure ordering systems and interactive services, excellent problem solving skills and methodical approach to achieving targets.
• IT Skills: Working knowledge of Mac OS Xserve environment and OSX network, running Apache Server.

GRAPHIC DESIGNER/PRE-PRESS OPERATIVE 2000-2003
Provided all design and pre-press requirements for the Gabriel Communications magazines portfolio.
Skills gained in this role include proven design and pre-press skills working on a variety of titles to tight print deadlines. Also design and creation of advertising and promotional material. Full range of skills required to produce complete magazines, including design of customer advertisements, from concept to print, using QuarkXpress, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.

1989-2000: Markem Systems Ltd

GRAPHIC DESIGNER 1997-2000: Responsible for the company’s B2B promotional advertising, product manuals and exhibition displays. Also design of product labeling for customers including HMSO, De La Rue and Disney, using QuarkXpress, Photoshop and Illustrator.

PRINTING ELEMENTS TECHNICIAN 1989-1997: Manufacturer of printing dies and labelling equipment.
