Title - Warehouse& Shop Assistant

Responsible To - Shop and Warehouse Manager

Line Management Responsibility: None

Overall Objectives: -

  • Co-ordinating and carrying out all warehouse and storage duties at the Julia’s House warehouse (or such other location as may be determined).
  • Assistingin the Julia’s House shop adjacent to the Warehouse (the Shop).

Area of Responsibility / Key Tasks
Maximise Sales / Sort incoming stock (donations) by classification to achieve the best results with stock level – seasonal, general customer demand and top up stock to other shops.
Maintain, organise and operate the in place system for stock control, storage and record keeping in the warehouse.
Ensure preparation and pricing of goods are in accordance with the guidelines.
Active customer engagement to influence Gift Aid performance.
Ensuring that the Warehouse and the surrounding yard areas are kept safe and clean, free from rubbish and hazards.
Assisting with the induction and training of new volunteers in the Warehouse and co-ordinating and supervising existing voluntary workers.
Dealing with customers, suppliers and contributors of goods at the Warehouse and elsewhere.
Assisting generally in the Shop, including moving goods to and from the Shop and the Warehouse.
Answering the phone and assisting customers in the Shop, processing Gift Aid donations and sales.
Assisting in maintaining a high standard of customer service in the Shop, and providing cover for the Shop staff when necessary.
Relationships / Co-operating with all Julia’s House staff whether at the Warehouse, the Shop, or elsewhere in maintaining good relationships with outside agencies, and the general public generally and upholding and building on the good name of Julia’s House.
Maintaining strict confidentiality in all aspects of Julia’s House and in particular in respect of all information, data, records, systems, and accounts appertaining to or in connection with Julia’s House.
Contribute to a positive working environment.
Health & Safety / Maintain own knowledge of safety rules, fire drills, and internal security and accident procedures; take ownership and adhere to these at all times.
Compliance with all Health & Safety regulations at all times.
Commitment to Julia’s House Team / Supporting the work and ethos of Julia’s House wherever possible
Contribute positively to good teamwork and uphold team values.
Training & Personal Development / Actively participate in appraisal system and attend training programmes to assist in personal development.
Participate in shadowing and other learning opportunities across different Julia’s House teams.
