Prostate Cancer UK is The Football League's official charity partner

Our objective is simple; we want millions of football fans, thousands of players, and 72 football mad communities to be aware of the disease and raise vital funds through an impactful and effective partnership with The Football League.

Designated Days (also known as “Men United Match Days”)

Between February and May 2015 we will hold more than 70 “designated days” at football matches across the country.

Designated Days consist of:

  • Bucket collection
  • Hospitality collection
  • Managers wearing badges
  • Players walking out in scarves
  • Programme ads and editorial
  • Prostate Cancer UK adult mascots (guests of honour)
  • Tannoy announcements
  • Social media activity through club channels
  • Local / regional media coverage
  • Player endorsement where possible
  • Auctions of shirts or Guest of Honour slots where possible

We may also hold similar activities at Rugby Union, Rugby League or other sports events.

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day interface with the clubs, Guests of Honour, leaders and volunteers.

What will I be doing?

The key tasks are as follows:

  • Making logistical arrangements with clubs
  • Handling 2nd line enquiries from volunteers (our outsourced agency Mosaic will handle 1st line enquiries)
  • Sending out communications packs to clubs and confirming receipt
  • Confirming volunteer roster with clubs
  • Organising Guest of Honour appearances
  • Running reports each week from Raisers Edge on numbers of volunteers for each match
  • Being on call on match days to resolve any issues that may arise

What Skills and experience do I need?

  • Organisation and administration skills
  • Experience using IT and internet packages
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality
  • Support diversity and equality of opportunity
  • An interest in football would be an advantage

What skills and experiences will I gain from this role?

You will gain a range of skills and experience such as:

  • Administration and project coordination skills
  • Developing your skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience of using Raiser’s Edge (A database widely used in the charity sector)
  • Being an important part of a programme that helps to raise awareness and raise vital funds for men with prostate cancer
  • Being part of a team passionate about football
  • Experience of working in the charity sector

Experience of collating and analysing data

Where will I be volunteering?

You will be based in our London Bridge office.

What time commitments are involved?

We need you to commit to 2-3 days per week from December 2014 to May 2015.

What Training will I receive?

  • An introduction to the work of Prostate Cancer UK
  • Raiser’s Edge database training
  • On the job training

You will also be able to attend any of our in-house training courses.

Will expenses be reimbursed?

We pay reasonable out-of-pocket expenses including travel to and from the office and lunch costs while volunteering in line with our expenses policy.
