VocationalCoordinator (Full-time Exempt Position)

Summary: The Vocational Coordinator works with the Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities Agency to provide vocational counseling and assisting eligible individuals to achieve community participation through employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Counsels eligible individuals toward employment in mutually agreed upon vocational goals based on an assessment of interest, values, capabilities and vocational impediments.
  • Provides information concerning rights, federal and state regulations, OODA policies and procedures, comparable benefits, and community resources.
  • Obtains and interprets necessary diagnostic information and consultation from other professionals concerning individual needs and issues to submit and recommend eligibility and Order of Selection for OODA services. .
  • Counsels individuals and families concerning disability, strengths, limitations and self-awareness.
  • Develops written rehabilitation programs based on outcomes of counseling and assessment activities.
  • Initiates program and monitors ongoing progress.
  • Coordinates and authorizes services including job placement, job coaching, assessments, work adjustment, vocational evaluation, rehabilitation technology, education and retention.
  • Manages caseload to ensure timely service provision.
  • Maintain case records according to OODA policy and federal and state regulations.
  • Documents progress, case notes and general information.
  • Attend assigned trainings and meetings as directed by OODA and Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
  • Perform other duties as required by supervisor.

Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in rehabilitation counseling, counseling, social work, psychology, sociology, special education, speech and hearing, or rehabilitation teaching. One year related experience preferred. Applicant must meet the requirements below…

  • Must meet agency computer competency level requirements.
  • Must meet agency driving requirements. May be required to drive agency vehicles. Must hold valid State of Ohio driver's license.
  • Must maintain certification in agency required crisis intervention training.
  • Must be eligible and be willing to be obtain the ODDD Adult Services Certification
  • Must successfully complete a BCII background check.
  • Must possess knowledge of employee training and career development, supervision and safety practices; developmental disabilities; team process skills
  • Must meet all other agency employment requirements. Must meet all requirements as outlined on the attached job description.

Salary: Minimal$38,495 annual

Hours:Exempt (minimal 40 hours per week)
