Summary:

Resume for a Translator, Editor and Proofreader with Heavy Mechanical and Technical Vocabulary Knowledge.

I am freelance English to Spanish translator, editor and proofreader with residence in the state of Michoacán Mexico; I’ve lived the past 23 years between the states of California and Michoacán. Therefore I can speak, read and write perfect English and Spanish with excellent local pronunciation and meaning.

Experience and Education in the U.S.A:

* I was brought up in Mexico but at the age of 16 my family moved to Orange County, California. I went to La Quinta High School in Westminster where I graduated, I had previous English studies so it only took me one year to speak and write fluent English.

*After my graduation I enrolled at the Golden West Community College in Huntington Beach, their body shop was famous and studied Auto Collision Repair and Paint.

*I got my first job at the Santa Ana Unified School District as a Substitute Teacher Assistant. In order for me to get the job I had to pass a bilingual/bi-literate Spanish/English test, as my main duty was translating for teachers/students.

*I’ve been reading and writing about cars, mechanics and design since then for school and internet sites/pages.

Experience and Education in Mexico:

*I relocated to Mexico and enrolled at CECATI and graduated as Certified Auto Technician.

*I studied Industrial Design in UNICO Zapopan in Jalisco, Mexico.

*After I graduated from college I opened up a Nitrous Oxide Refill Station and Speed Shop, as a result got heavily involved with racing off all sorts as not only would I modify cars and motorcycles but was also a Sales Rep for Holley Performance Products here in Mexico.

*Around this time I decided to start working on the Industrial Design field based on some designs of my own so I enrolled in CECATI again to study Tools and Machining Processes in order to fabricate the necessary parts for my prototypes.

Skills:

During my Teacher Assistant days, I would be called for new different jobs on daily basis due to my, to the point and concrete translation skills.

I am extremely detail and mechanically oriented.

I do English to Spanish translations, heavy or basic Spanish editing, and final Spanish proofreading by taking only one project at a time for full attention.

I am very proficient with software like Word and Trados as well as other engine computer tuning software and technical vocabulary.

Rates:

My rates are reasonable and determined by the characteristics of the project (word count, complexity, etc.) and delivery time requested.
