VACDE Winter Business Meeting - VASWCD Annual Meeting

During this quarter, the VACDE has been planning for its upcoming VACDE winter business meeting that will be held during the VACDE Tuesday luncheon. The membership will be approving a 2017 budget, 2017 Annual Plan of Work, and electing President, Vice-President, representatives and alternates from AreasII,IV and VI.Employee service awards and an Outstanding Conservation Employee award will be presented at the luncheon. The VACDE is assisting with the Educational Foundation auction and an ornament fundraiser for the VACDE Benevolence Fund. Thanks to everyone who purchased an ornament to support the VACDE Benevolence Fund, which is a resource that can be used by district employees in times of hardship from a natural disaster, fire or other hardship situations. The VACDE responded to one benevolence request in 2016.

Scholarships

This year the VACDE has awarded scholarships to cover the registration cost of district employees attending the VASWCD Annual Meeting in the amount of $1,000. Funds remaining from Graves Mountain training along with VACDE budget line item, allowed the VACDE to award five scholarships. Thank you again for support from the Beals Fund and the VASWCD Educational Foundation.

The VACDE will be presenting an award for an Outstanding Professional Conservation District Employee.

Southeast Conservation District Employees Association (SECDEA)

Andrew Gilmer, Clinch Valley SWCD, represented Virginia at the SECDEA Annual Meeting held in Pigeon Forge, TN. Andrew shared with other SWCDs across the Southeast,the success of Virginia’s cost share program, the new VCAP and other district education programs. He also attended the annual business meeting and several breakout training sessions.

Summer Training

The VACDE summer training and business meeting has been scheduled for August 22-24, 2017. Mark your calendars for another record breaking training!
