Bar Council Business Development Mission to Brazil 2016

Opportunity for junior members of the Bar to participate in the Korean Exchange Programme

4 – 15 April 2016, Seoul, South Korea

Following the success of the first return leg, which saw a group of junior barristers head to South Korea for two weeks in May 2014, work is now underway for the second return leg of the Korean Exchange Programme. Hosted by the Korean Bar Association, participants will undertake placements in local law firms, visit key legal institutions and receive an introductory course in the Korean legal system, culture and some basic language skills.The deadline for applications is Friday19 February 2016. Bar Council Business Development Mission to South Korea and China

The International Committee is organising a business development mission to Seoul (South Korea) and Shanghai (China), led by the Chairman of the Bar Council, Chantal-Aimée Doerries QC. The mission aims to raise the profile of the Bar within the Korean and Chinese legal market and to raise awareness of the ability of foreign law firms and clients to instruct the Bar directly. International Continuous Professional Development Legal and Professional Development Grant Programme

The three application deadlines for 2015 are now confirmed asFriday 12 February, Friday 10 June, Friday 21 October 2016. This programme supports junior barristers (of 7 years practice or less), who are in employed or self-employed practice to participate in international events or conferences of their choice by providing them with financial support. Applicants to the grant programme must be a member of one of this year’s sponsoring SBAs/Circuits: Commercial Bar Association, Family Law Bar Association, Competition Law Association, Technology and Construction Bar Association, Criminal Bar Association, Bar European Group, London Common Law and Commercial Bar Association, Chancery Bar Association and the Northern Circuit.
