A RESOLUTION memorializing Afton Kordenbrock and adjourning the House of Representatives in his honor.

WHEREAS, Afton Kordenbrock was a native son of the Commonwealth of Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, Afton Kordenbrock was an eminently dedicated public servant, in which endeavor he spent 17 years as mayor of the City of Taylor Mill, and five years as council member; and

WHEREAS, Afton Kordenbrock was a founder of the Northern Kentucky Area Planning Commission and was President of the Northern Kentucky Area Planning Council; and

WHEREAS, Afton Kordenbrock had the distinction of serving on the board of the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments; and

WHEREAS, Afton Kordenbrock, in all of his civic endeavors, served with a joy and zeal apparent to all who have had the fortune of working with him or benefiting from his pursuits; and

WHEREAS, Afton Kordenbrock was a faithful member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Latonia; and

WHEREAS, Afton Kordenbrock served admirably as an intelligence officer and an artillery officer in the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, the recent dark events of acts of terrorism and subsequent new generation of soldiers serving in the Armed Forces have, for a new generation, illuminated the true nature of the sacrifices that admirable individuals such as Afton Kordenbrock have made on behalf of this country and for the benefit of the people of this world; and

WHEREAS, Afton Kordenbrock further distinguished himself as the loving and beloved husband for 55 years of marriage to Mary Lou Kordenbrock, wherein he became the loving and beloved father to Greg Kordenbrock and Pamela Hart; and

WHEREAS, Afton Kordenbrock was a loving and beloved brother of Esther Kidd; and

WHEREAS, Afton Kordenbrock was a proud grandfather of five grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, on December 30, 2005, Afton Kordenbrock departed this life;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives does hereby extend its most profound sense of sorrow and proffers its sincerest condolences to the friends and family of Afton Kordenbrock on the occasion of his passing.

Section 2. The House of Representatives does hereby affirm that the accomplishments of Afton Kordenbrock were manifold and great, and that his accomplishments will continue to pay tribute to his tireless energy and enthusiasm for many years yet to pass.

Section 3. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it shall do so in honor of and respect for Afton Kordenbrock.

Section 4. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Mary Lou Kordenbrock, 728 Winston Hill Drive, Taylor Mill, Kentucky 41015; Mr. Greg Kordenbrock, 3450 Klette Road, Independence, Kentucky 41051; Mrs. Pam Hart, in the care of Mrs. Mary Lou Kordenbrock, 728 Winston Hill Drive, Taylor Mill, Kentucky 41015; and Mrs. Esther Kidd 699 Wischer Drive, Taylor Mill, Kentucky 41015.
