A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor of Donald A. and Lillian B. Nunnelly upon the occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary on July 5, 2002.

WHEREAS, marriage can be likened to a flower, watered by the showers of tender affection, expanded by the cheering glow of kindness, and guarded by the impenetrable barrier of unshaken confidence; and

WHEREAS, Donald A. and Lillian B. Nunnelly entered into the bonds of holy matrimony in Hagerstown, Maryland, on July 5, 1952; and

WHEREAS, Donald A. and Lillian B. Nunnelly are the loving parents of Martha S. and Maurice Royster, David E. and Jane Nunnelly, and Mark E. Nunnelly and Denise Dupre; and they are the proud grandparents of eleven grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Donald A. Nunnelly retired in 1991 as pastor of the First Christian Church in Frankfort, and, in addition to his pastoral responsibilities at First Christian Church, on numerous occasions has opened sessions of the Kentucky General Assembly with prayer, as well as arranging for other Frankfort pastors to give invocations; and

WHEREAS, Lillian B. Nunnelly is a retired director of the Thorn Hill Adult Learning Center in Frankfort, and was employed by the Kentucky General Assembly during a number of legislative sessions where she worked on the Senate floor; and

WHEREAS, Donald A. and Lillian B. Nunnelly have experienced fifty years filled with love, perpetual friendship, confidence, and integrity, and they continue to share these feelings of respect and love for one another, and now that they have retired, they travel often, and much emphasis is placed on maintaining family relationships and participating in events of their loving grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, to celebrate this glorious occasion, the children and grandchildren of Donald A. and Lillian B. Nunnelly are planning formal festivities at the summer compound of Mark Nunnelly and Denise Dupre on Nantucket Island, off the coast of Massachusetts, on July 5, 2002, a special day of celebration, rejoicing, and reminiscing;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives holds the institution of marriage in high esteem, and is proud and honored to recognize Donald A. and Lillian B. Nunnelly upon the occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary on July 5, 2002. We wish to them many more years of devoted companionship.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Donald A. and Lillian B. Nunnelly upon the occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary on July 5, 2002.
