GAUISLAND IS 15 KM SOUTH OF SERONGA.

SITUATED ON AN ISLAND SURROUNDED BYRIVERINEFOREST

UMVUVU CAMP, PLAYS HOST TO A RANGE OF ANIMALS SMALL AND BIG NOTABLY HIPPOS (UMVUVU), PLUS A GREAT VARIETY OF BIRDS.

MEKORO TOURS.

ON ARRIVAL AT SERONGA BY BOAT OR AIR (ONE CAN ALSO DRIVE OUT TO THE CAMP) YOU WILL BE TRANSFERRED 15KM OUT OF SERONGA TO GAO ISLAND, UMVUVU CAMP; MEKOROS WILL BE WAITING TO TAKE YOU TO UMVUVU CAMP, THE MEKORO TOUR WILL TAKE YOU INTO THE DELTATO SEE THE NUMEROUS ANIMALS AND BIRDLIFE, RETURNING TO UMVUVU CAMP PRIOR TO DEPARTURE. ALLYOU HAVE TO DO IS TO SUPPLY YOUR OWN FOOD AND EATING UTENSILS. UMVUVU CAMP HAS WALK-IN TENTS ABLUTIONS WITH HOT WATER SHOWERS PLUS ALL BUSH CAMPING EQUIPMENT.

Please find below our prices for the 2008 season starting 1st April.

All prices are quoted in United States dollars. (Prices for 2009 season will increase by approximately 12%)

2 day 1 night $90.00 (can be spent bush camping or at Umvuvu Camp).

3 day 2 nights $102.00 (one night can be spent bush camping).

4 day 3 nights $124.00 (one night can be spent bush camping).

The above prices/Trips are all self catered.

Traditional Meal and Cultural Dance can be arranged at time of booking, cost per person $12.00 (min 10)

Included is the following;

All activities;

  • Guided Mekoro trips.
  • Guided Game walks.
  • Island walk.
  • Sunrise/Sunset Mekoro.

And,

  • Return transfer Seronga-Umvuvu Camp.
  • Tented accommodation (walk-in tents with stretcher, sheet and pillow).
  • Bush camping equipment (Tents, sleeping mats, toilet & shower).

Umvuvu Camp has a cooking area and fireplace that has tables and chairs paraffin lights and 12 volt. Preparation area for cooking food, braii stand, single gas cooker good drinking water and Falkirk cooking pots numbers 1,3, and4.

Ablutions have hot and cold showers and flush toilets. We have a fully stocked bar.

Boat transfers from Sepupa to Seronga can be arranged through Supupa Swamp Stop.
