Tulip TwistClass Notes 11/2/2018

Class Cutting:

To save time for sewing in class you may chose to cut only part of all the patches you need for your quilt.

The cutting chart later in this document is identical to the chart in the pattern except two columns have been added indicating the number of strips/sizes of each fabric to be cut in class and the number of each patch to be used to make four blocks (2 of Block A and 2 of Block B) in class. As you cut these strips into squares, triangles and rectangles, write down the number of each you have cut. You should overwrite everywhere there is a ‘?’ in the table with the number of patches cut. After class you can complete cutting of your quilt by cutting additional strips then squares, rectangles and triangles for your particular project.

Class Note: we will not be doing any cutting of border strips in class.

Cutting Notes:
1) Fabric should be folded selvedge to selvedge for all cutting.
2) Cutting instructions below tell you to cut HST (Half-Square Triangles) or HRT (Half-Rectangle Triangles). The instructions indicate the size of square or rectangle, and number of those /

patches to cut. To make HST or HRT from these patches simply cut the patch on the diagonal as shown in Diagram 1 or Diagram 2. Important: Rectangles must be right sides together or back sides together before cutting! /

Tip!It might help if you highlight the column in the cutting chart for the quilt you are making.
