Thank you for expressing an interest in our United Kingdom Coaching Certificate (UKCC) Level 1 ‘Assistant Coach’,coaching in triathlon course. The UKCC Level 1 is intended for coaches who are going to ‘assist’ in the delivery of triathlon coaching, or for those who have a limited experience of coaching and our sport. If you are hoping to ‘lead’ triathlon sessions and have a good knowledge and understanding of the sport, as well as an understanding of coaching, then it is possible to apply to go straight onto our Level 2 ‘Lead Coach’ programme. Course Content & Delivery
The UKCC Level 1 ‘Assistant Coach’ award is aimed at giving coaches the ‘How to Coach’ skills and follows the learning outcomes as advised by Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). The 3 units that the course aims to assess coaches on are

  1. Prepare for the Delivery of Coaching Activities in Triathlon
  2. Conduct and Review Coaching Activities in Triathlon
  3. Safe and Ethical Sport in Triathlon

Candidates will be assessed by 3 methods

  1. Exam
  2. Portfolio Completion
  3. Practical Assessment

Although the course is 3 days long, the programme requires candidates to do a degree of home study which will take approximately 11hrs.

COACH EDUCATION GRANT APPLICATION

Triathlonscotland have funding available to support coaches financially to go through their UKCC coaching awards. The cost of a UKCC Level 1 ‘Assistant Coach’ course is £300. We are able to provide up to £150 grant funding to support the cost of the course. If successful, you will be given the grant funding following the successful completion of the course and a commitment to deliver to your local club/athletes. Applications for Grant Funding must be received prior to the course commencing.
