MAIN PURPOSE:

  • To act as the lead team manageror be part of a group of team managers during the National Academy Summer camps to ensure the welfare of all young people involved. The lead Team Managers will have responsibilities before and after the camps
  • To work with the Academy Manager on the logistics of the Summer camps

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure an understanding and awareness of all British Fencing safeguarding and welfare policies and procedures
  • To support all participating Team Managers at the National Academy Summer camp
  • Attend any additional meetings as and when required (lead team managers)
  • Logistical work as required both pre, during and post camp

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Key skills, experience and qualifications required:

  • To have experience of leading teams in residential or international sports events in any capacity, within the last 5 years
  • Understandthe implications of protecting children and young people at residential training camps
  • Willing toobtain an enhancedBritish Fencing CRB Disclosure, or have such disclosure obtained within the last 2 years
  • Have attended the sportscoachUK Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop (SPC1 or SPC2) within the last 3 years
  • To have attended a British Fencing team manager training day or be prepared to do so before the camp
  • Willing to undertake any training considered appropriate to the post
  • Have an understanding of the issues affecting children and young people and the sensitive way in which these issues must be managed
  • Understanding and appreciation of the need to respect confidentiality & to appropriately pass on all concerns that may arise
  • Able to follow procedures and work closely with the other team managers
  • Appropriately challenge those who do not comply with British Fencing’s welfare policies
  • Willing to agree to abide by the British Fencing team officials code of conduct (available online at
