Dear Parents,
I'm happy to inform you that your student has access to hundreds of eBooks using our class subscription to www.raz-kids.com. Children can read and listen to books on Raz-Kids and even record themselves reading. Afterwards they can take a quiz to check for comprehension.
To access your child's assignment, log in at www.raz-kids.com/login/jeannevs.
After they have logged in, these are the procedures we will follow to increase fluency:
1. Listen to the story being read 1 time. (Click on the picture of the ear. When they finish listening to the story, they should click on “Read Again” to listen again.)
2. Read the story aloud 1 time. (Click on the picture of the book.)
3. Record themselves reading. (Click on the picture of the book, and then click on “Record.”)
4. Take a quiz. (Click on the picture of the question mark.)
After they have completed these steps, they can proceed to the next book. I will be able to track each student, listen to their recordings, and make sure they are listening and reading the assigned times.
As they listen and read books, they will earn stars to go into the incentive area “Raz Rocket” where they can customize their rocket.
***Your child can log in both at school and home!! If they want to record themselves at home, you can purchase a set of headphones with a microphone on them. (I ordered the ones for the classroom off amazon.com for around $14.) Many electronic devices have a built in microphone which will also work!
Monitor your student's progress
See which books your student has been reading, send them a message, and review all their activity with the Parent Access area. Simply log in as your student, (just click on their name) and then click the "Parents" link in the top right, and register today.
