The Primary Responsibility of the Saskatchewan Canada Winter Games Coaching Staff Is To

CWG COACHES (1 male and 1 female)

General: Cross Country Saskatchewan (CCS) is looking for a responsible, experienced, enthusiastic man and woman, qualified to train and coach a team of Saskatchewan athletes prior to and during the upcoming 2015 Canada Winter Games (CWG).

Qualifications:

  • Must beLevel III certified or Comp Dev Trained or Certified through NCCP prior to onset of the 2015 CWG
  • Other coaching courses or related post-secondary education, (especially ski-specific), will be an asset
  • Priority preference will be given to the following in the order in which they appear:
  • Past experience coaching cross-country ski athletes at CWG
  • Past experience as thecoach of athletes at National Cross-Country Ski Championships
  • Past experience as the coach of athletes at other higher level competitions
  • The Coach must have:
  • several years experience working with High Performance athletes at the club level or beyond
  • extensive technical training and experience in ski preparation and use of ski waxes
  • Past experience working with disabled athletes will be an asset
  • Past experience working with other minorities will be an asset
  • Strong leadership skills will be an asset
  • Strong inter-personal skills will be an asset
  • Strong communication skills will be an asset

Role: To be a member of an effective coaching team responsible to lead and guide able-bodied and disabled athletes in their efforts to prepare for, and compete at CWG events.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist each team athlete through encouragement, instruction, and supervision to attain the highest possible level of performance
  • Meet with CWG potential athletes together with their coaches prior to final selection of the team
  • Obtainfrom, and advise club coaches on Yearly Training Plans for CWG potential athletes
  • Work with club coaches to ensure that CWG potential athletes complete and document their training sessions
  • Ensure that all team athletes are fully prepared to compete at the CWG
  • Report to the CCS Board of Directors through the Competition and High Performance Director
  • Address any gender or minority-sensitive issues
  • Report to the Chef de Mission for Saskatchewan during the CWG
  • Cooperate and collaborate with the CCS Team manager and the head staff of CWG Team Saskatchewan
  • Submit a final report on the CWG to CCS and Sask Sport

CCS Obligations:

  • CCS will pay the Coaches an honorarium and travel, accommodation and meal expenses for preparatory and CWG events, as stipulated below
  • The CWG Staff and CCS High Performance Committee will collectively determine the events that qualify for funding
  • CCS will designate the Competition Director (High Performance Chair) as its contact with the Coaches, and other CWG Staff
  • Insure the Coaches against risk of liability which might occur while participating in Team Training or competition
  • CCS will provide the Coaches with an accountability agreement
  • The Saskatchewan Mission of CWG will provide the Coaches with a statement of expected duties for the games

Hiring Process: A contract will be formed between CCS and the successful applicant stipulating the coach’s salary, other expenses, and payment schedule.

Duration: The contract will run from July 1, 2014 to April30, 2015 or until the duties are fulfilled.

Location: The coachesmay have to travel to various parts of the province to meet with CWG potential athletes and their coaches at group events such as camps and races.

PARA-NORDICCOACH

General: Cross Country Saskatchewan (CCS) is looking for a responsible, experienced, enthusiastic man or woman, qualified to assist in the training and coaching of a team of Saskatchewan athletes prior to and during the upcoming 2015 Canada Winter Games (CWG).

Qualifications:

  • The Para-Nordic Coach must be Level III certified or Comp Dev trained through NCCP prior to onset of the 2015 CWG
  • Other coaching courses or related post-secondary education, (especially ski-specific), will be an asset
  • Priority preference will be given to the following in the order in which they appear:
  • Past experience coaching disabled cross-country ski athletes at CWG, National Championships or Westerns
  • Past experience coaching cross-country ski athletes at CWG
  • Past experience as an assistant coach of athletes at National Cross-Country Ski Championships, or other higher level competitions
  • The Assistant Coach must have:
  • several years experience working with High Performance disabled athletes at the club level or beyond
  • extensive technical training and experience in ski preparation and use of ski waxes
  • Past experience competing at the National or International Level of cross-country skiing will be an asset
  • Past experience working with minorities will be an asset
  • Strong leadership skills will be an asset
  • Strong inter-personal skills will be an asset
  • Strong communication skills will be an asset

Role: to assist the coaching staff in all aspects of preparing disabled athletes and their equipment for CWG competition.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expertise in working with disabled athletes and their equipment
  • Assist the coaching staff in the delivery of disabled athlete training, and support during training and competition
  • Gather, prepare, test, and distribute disabled athlete ski equipment
  • Address gender or minority-sensitive issues as directed by the Coach

  • The CWG Staff and CCS High Performance Committee will collectively determine the events that qualify for funding.

TEAM MANAGER

General: Cross Country Saskatchewan (CCS) is looking for a responsible, experienced, enthusiastic man or woman, qualified to organize events, coordinate services and represent a team of Saskatchewan athletes prior to and during the upcoming 2015 Canada Winter Games (CWG).

Qualifications:

  • Level II or Competition Coaching (L2T) Intro trained through NCCP prior to onset of the 2015 CWGwill be asset
  • Other coaching courses or related post-secondary education, (especially ski-specific), will be an asset
  • Past experience managing or coaching cross-country ski athletes at CWG, Nationals or other higher level events
  • The Team Manager must have:
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Past experience working with disabled athletes will be an asset
  • Past experience working with other minorities will be an asset
  • Administration and accounting skills will be an asset

Role: To represent, and coordinate events, services, communication and organization of the CWG ski team and coaching staff

Responsibilities:

Represent the CWG Ski Team at pre-event organizing meetings (such as Sask Sport and Saskatchewan Games Council) and Ski Team meetings

Coordinate the provision of Ski Team

Coordinate communication between the Ski Team, coaching staff, CCS, Team Sask, and the media

Coordinate Ski Team events prior to and during the CWG

Act as a liaison between athletes and coaches on organization, Team or personal issues

Assist the Coaches in his/her role as requested

Report to the CCS Board of Directors through the Competition and High Performance Director

Cooperate and collaborate with the staff of CWG Team Saskatchewan

  • CCS will pay the Team Manager an honorarium, travel, accommodation and meal expenses for preparatory and CWG events, as stipulated below. The CWG Staff and CCS High Performance Committee will collectively determine the events that qualify for funding.
  • CCS will designate the Competition Director (High Performance Chair) as its contact CWG Staff.
  • Insure the Team Manager against risk of liability which might occur while participating in Team Training or competition.

Duration: The contract will run from July 1, 2014 to April30, 2015.

Location: The Team Manager may have to travel to various parts of the province to represent the team at meetings as required.
