This position will focus on the supervising the daily activity of the Underwriting, Shipping, Payoff, and Participation teams for the Mortgage Purchase Program. This position will oversee the flow of loans through the Mortgage Purchase Program processes to meet Bank credit policy standards, as well as industry driven turn times. Position requires an individual with the ability to create, interpret, and apply policy, make decisions regarding what the organization will do in relation to the scope of the department, and exercise discretion about significant matters.

Responsibilities:

1.  Supervise MPP ops staff, including leadership and mentoring of individuals by responding to and resolving MPP staff questions and concerns as well as coaching, demonstrating skills, tracking, and communicating progress.

2.  Provide direction to staff as it relates to work performance and development including productivity, quality, absenteeism, etc.

3.  Provide backup for underwriting, shipping, payoffs, and participations when staff is out sick or on vacation.

4.  Verifies that each file meets the technical requirements of the Program and any of the following organizations that may apply: Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, FHA, VA, Rural Development and Private Mortgage Insurance.

5.  Verifies the programs standard documentation has been received and is cross referenced against the clients funding request and program eligibility.

6.  Monitor the client’s facility outstanding balance to ensure funding requests are kept within the maximum amount available.

7.  Monitor the clients operating account balances and ensure the depository requirement is maintained.

8.  Assist MPP Operations Manager in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that will ensure consistent compliance to lending guidelines and regulations.

Additional Responsibilities

1.  Assist in hiring new employees.

2.  Assist with training new and current employees.

3.  Assist in MPP staff 90-day/annual reviews.

4.  Schedule, organize, and lead weekly MPP team meetings.

5.  Assist in streamlining daily processes and procedures.

6.  Assist in monitoring the aging of “wet funded” loans (loans funded without the original note having been received by the Bank) and follow up with clients should these go beyond program tolerances.

7.  Monitor aging of funded loans and follow up with clients should these become aged beyond program tolerances.

8.  Assist in requesting and performing post close file audits, as needed.

9.  Work closely with accounting department to determine daily capital requirements and maintain target net outstanding balance.

10.  Maintain industry knowledge by attending appropriate educational workshops/classes and/or by participating in other industry-related activities.

11.  Meet established standards and guidelines with regard to compliance, job knowledge, quality, attendance, efficiency, initiative, customer service, and overall performance.

12.  Maintain customer confidence by providing ongoing quality service and keeping all files and information confidential.

13.  Maintain up-to-date knowledge and compliance with internal policies and procedures. Understand and ensure compliance with laws, rules, and regulations affecting our institution.

Requirements:

1.  A minimum of 5 years of progressive mortgage lending experience and working knowledge of conventional, government, and portfolio underwriting guidelines and standards.

2.  Proven leadership skills with a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience

3.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.

4.  Direct Endorsement Underwriter preferred.

5.  Understanding of collateral documents and note endorsement procedures in mortgage lending.

6.  An understanding of the warehouse lending industry and the secondary market.

7.  Possess strong interpersonal skills and have effective communications skills with a diverse range of individuals, including co-workers and customers. The ability to interact effectively with employees in order to motivate, direct work flow, assess performance, and assign duties.

8.  Exhibit appropriate professional behavior including integrity, flexibility, results orientation and the ability to interact effectively with others in a team atmosphere.

9.  Proficient computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, any other mortgage software, etc.).

10.  Effective organization, problem solving, and analytical skills.

11.  Ability to demonstrate sound judgment, effective problem resolution and decision making skills. The ability to develop creative solutions to challenging problems and possess a sense of anticipation and foresight to avoid problems and/or difficult situations.

12.  Must be a self-starter with the ability to work under tight deadlines. The ability to work with minimal supervision, while obtaining superior results.

13.  Ability to develop strong working relationships and perform effectively within a team-oriented environment.

14.  Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
