About the Partnership

The North Brink Partnership is the North Brink Practice and the North Brink Pharmacy. We are committed to the development of the team and the partnership through innovation and forward thinking.

The Practice

Our Mission Statement is:

  • The Practice aims to provide the highest possible quality of healthcare available under the NHS to all its patients.
  • We aim to recruit and retain a well-motivated and committed healthcare team.
  • We intend to fully utilise all the special skills of our healthcare team for the maximum benefit of our patients.
  • We are committed to a training and ongoing development programme for all staff, both new and existing.

The practice is a well organised and highly motivated PMS practice with a patient list size of approximately 18,500 patients, which makes us one of the largest practice in Cambridgeshire.

We have approximately 60 staff working within the practice, both clinical and non-clinical. The clinical team incorporates 7 partners, 2 salaried GPs, 4 advanced nurse practitioners and a nursing department. Our staff are well motivated, enthusiastic and capable and the nursing team manage a variety of traditional GP roles within the practice.

We have a well-defined management structure with clear roles and responsibilities for all staff. There are weekly business meetings, occasional evening meetings and annual “away-days” for the partners and other departments.

The practice is involved in Practice Based Commissioning (PBC) and has an excellent QOF and Enhanced Services achievement, which involves nurse-led chronic disease management clinics, supported by the Clinical Performance Team.

There are many extra services offered within the practice including minor surgery, in which we have a minor ops suite. The practice is open 08.00 – 18.30 with two evening surgeries each week. We are an approved training practice and have been accredited with the RCGP Quality Practice Award twice.

Our seven partners have different backgrounds and different special interests, but work together in a supportive and friendly environment. Individual interest and enthusiasms are encouraged and nurtured and we ensure we maintain good working and social relationships. We like to be seen as progressive and innovative, and have the vision to shape events rather than to react to them. Change is inevitable, and so it is important to manage well.

All staff have annual appraisals which are linked to a Personal Development Plan. Time is set aside for clinical governance in the practice.

Premises

The building has a history that dates back to the 1770’s. The Georgian riverside premises have featured in several TV period drama productions.

The partners hold the freehold to the property and the building has been extended to over the years to form a large medical centre. It has a central reception area, 18 consulting rooms, a treatment area, minor surgery suite, a dispensary, boardroom, admin offices and a staff room.

The Area

Wisbech can be reached within half hour from Peterborough and Kings Lynn, with Cambridge and Norwich an hour away. The coast is 11 miles away.

The town is a Georgian market town and is known as the “Capital of the Fens”. The present population of the town and surrounding villages is approximately 38,000. There are three medical practices within the town, and two nearby practices which provide the area with primary medical care.

The main district hospital is the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in Kings Lynn. The smaller North Cambs Hospital (NCH) is based in Wisbech and offers out patient facilities resourced by QEH, radiology facilities, physiotherapy facilities and a pathology laboratory. It also houses a Minor Injures Unit, a care of the elderly unit which aids in rehabilitation and a palliative care centre.

There are hospitals located in Peterborough and Huntingdon are available for outpatient appointments. PeterboroughCityHospital is a modern hospital that opened in 2011. Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and the Norfolk and NorwichHospitals are the main tertiary referral centres.

The Job

The practice has seen significant changes in response to the opportunities offered by the new NHS. Several partners are developing clinical and non-clinical specialist skill and we strive to improve our working day by reducing our workload. PMS has been given us the opportunity to develop without reducing income.

What sort of doctor are we looking for?

We have no fixed concept (great minds don’t think alike); a competent clinician able to provide good quality medical care to our patients, and a personality to complement the current team are probably the only ‘core’ competencies we look for. The development of specific skills or a specialist interest, if desired, will be facilitated by the practice and form part of the working week.

  • Salary: £110,000 dependant on experience
  • NHS Pension Scheme
  • 6 weeks holiday plus 1 week for professional/study leave
  • Flexible start date
