Author: Minister Steve Oliver – 1/27/2013

  1. Howto Be Filled with the Holy Spirit

One must become a believer. In preparation for The Filling of the Spirit, one must be a believer in Jesus Christ who made the full payment for our sins. Without this acclamation of faith, one cannot be filled with the Holy Spirit. In order for salvation to be complete, the sinner must confess Christ as Savior and Lord; Believing with the heart. When one truly believes with the heart, he or she will eventually “confess Jesus as Lord.” This will be the evidence that genuine faith has been exercised.

  1. Matthew 3:1-12 John the Baptist - Forerunner of Christ (Read).
  1. Kingdom of Heaven-Kingdom of the Messiah, which was "at hand", just ready to appear, when Christ would be made manifested in Israel and enter upon his work and office. The reign of Christ among men is expressly foretold. The dispensation of infinite mercy, and manifestation of eternal truth, by Christ Jesus, producing the true knowledge of God, accompanied with that worship which is pure and holy, worthy of that God who is its institutor and its object. It is called a kingdom because it has its laws, all the moral precepts of the Gospel, Its subjects are all who believe in Christ Jesus: and its king. Jesus Christ never saved a soul which he did not govern.

The Kingdom of Heaven does not consist in the gratification of sensual passions, or worldly ambition; but is righteousness, peace, and joy, in the Holy Ghost.

  1. The doctrine John preached - repentance; "Repent ye." The word used, implies a total alteration in the mind, a change in the judgment, disposition, and affections. Inventory of one’s soul, heart, mind, and/or life. It also signifies that, after hearing such preaching, the sinner is led to understand, that the way he has walked in was the way of misery, death, and hell. See Acts 2:38.
  1. John 1: 1-12 (Read)
  2. John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

  1. Romans 10:9-11. (Read)

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith,Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

  1. Acts 1: 1-9 (Read)

Power – dunamis (1410) – Force (literally or figuratively); miraculous power, ability, abundance, meaning, mightily in deeds, worker of miracles, power, strength, violence, and mighty (wonderful) work. You now have the anointing, strength, power, zeal, courage, gifts and ability to be a witness and a light for Christ and to endure all opposing forces. Holy Spirit would grant; the power of speaking with new tongues; of preaching the gospel with great effect; of enduring great trials
