Job description for position of Clinical Advisor (36% FTE)

1.Position summary

1.1The Clinical Advisor reports directly to the Chief Executive of AACP ltd., and is responsible for the delivery of clinical support to AACP members.

2.Regular duties

2.1Under the overall direction of the Chief Executive, to deliver clinical support to AACP members and staff.

2.1.1Answering clinical enquiries by telephone and email from AACP members

2.1.2Answering in an accurate and timely manner in keeping with the AACP’s qualitative level and maintaining an average response time of under 4 days (including non-working days)

2.1.3Keep accurate electronic records of all enquiries and responses given

2.1.4Report enquiries to Chief Executive when necessary

2.1.5Liaise with other AACP staff to support them with clinical knowledge

2.2Under the overall direction of the Chief Executive, to evaluate and judge documents and publications from third parties

2.2.1Gather evidence and other publications on acupuncture in physiotherapy and evaluate, summarise and commend where necessary, for example from NICE, CSP, NHS etc.

2.2.2Actively investigate guideline developments, such as those from NICE, being involved where necessary

2.2.3Keep organised files of all summaries produced

2.2.4Post material onto the AACP website where appropriate

2.3Develop AACP publications under the direction of the Chief Executive.

2.3.1Contribute to the development of support materials for members, such as leaflets, PIL’s and other AACP documentation, training manuals etc.

2.3.2Assist in the updates of certain published materials when required.

2.4Under the overall direction of the Chief Executive, to support the timely development of the AACP journal and contribute to the e-newsletter when appropriate

2.5Manage the CPD audit service

2.5.1Audit CPD submitted from AACP members, or delegate this task to an CPD Auditor

2.5.2Evaluate and streamline the CPD audit service as appropriate

2.6Work creatively to develop strategies to clinically support AACP members

2.6.1Discuss ideas with the Chief Executive prior to implementation

3.Occasional duties

3.1Any other duties as may be reasonably required by theChief Executive or Board of Directors.

4.The Position

4.1This is an employed, part-time position of 36% FTE, based at the AACP offices in Peterborough. It is envisaged that this would be a three-day-a-week position of 4.5 hours per day

5.Personal requirements on application

5.1HCPC membership

5.2CSP membership

5.3Accredited AACP membership

5.4Minimum five years’ experience within acupuncture physiotherapy

5.5Excellent written and verbal communication skills in clinical subjects

5.6Up to date acupuncture physiotherapy CPD

5.7Proven experience with audit/ research work

6.Remuneration

6.1Salary £34,278 per annum FTE (2016); at 36% salary this is £12,340.
