The 2018 Ride to Conquer Cancer Crew Teams

Operations Teams

Bus Liaisons: Works closely with staff, participants and the bus driver. Acts as a navigator and communications assistant to transport Crew and tired/injured Riders to specified locations. Communicates often with the Dispatch Team. Sitting for long periods of time while riding on the bus.

Traffic & Safety: Responsible for managing vehicle and pedestrian traffic into and out of Opening Ceremonies, Camp and Closing Ceremonies. Directs people to appropriate parking areas and allows only Event vehicles into designated parking areas. Enforces parking plans established by the Logistics Team. Also this team will help radiate positivity throughout the event with cheering and encouragement. Ideal opportunity to see Riders. Low impact.

Bike Parking & Rack Team:This team will manage the bike rack set-up and break-down at the main event sites. The team will manage the area and ensure bike tags are attached properly. This team will also ensure each Rider’s bike plate matches their credential. Will assist riders with parking their bikes as necessary. Long periods of standing may be incurred. Great way to interact with the riders. Lifting required. Drivers for trucks are needed (24’ truck).

Road Based Teams

Sweep Driver: This team drives the route in vans or SUVs outfitted with bike racks (provided). This team is a group of event support vehicles who will help riders if needed as they go. Also encouraging the riders the whole way with music and decorations.
Some lifting required. Encouraged to provide own SUV or Mini-Van, must have driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Sweep Navigator:This person is paired with a Sweep Driver and navigates directions, stays in contact with Dispatch and captain to know where to help the riders.

Route Teardown:Works Saturday and Sunday in groups of two or three. One driver and one or two people to get out and clip down the route signs. Follow the route and behind the very last rider. Great opportunity to see the whole route and a later start both days. Ideal for former riders.

Pit Stop Team: Essential functions include the daily set-up of snacks and hydration areas. Also required to help with traffic control at each rest stop location. Help both the Medical Team and Bike Mechanic Team get set up on site. Inventory supplies at the end of each day. These teams are the first to leave in the morning and often the last to return to camp at night. Pit Stops offer food, beverage, mechanical support and medical services.
Some lifting required. This is a great job for crew who want a lot of contact with the riders and cheer them on! Drivers for the trucks are needed (15’ truck).

Route Supply TruckDriver and Navigator: This team assists in the distribution and replenishment of snacks needed for each of the Route Stops. Will also pick-up leftover snacks at the end of each day, as needed. The Crew Teams at each stop will assist with the unloading and reloading of supplies throughout the day. The team works closely with Dispatch staff to be certain that all Route Stops have sufficient hydration & snack supplies each day. Lifting required. Drivers for the trucks are needed (24’ truck). Please notify your Crew Coach if you have experience driving refrigerated trucks.

Caboose Team:Rides the course by vehicle or on a bicycle to track final Rider and ensures everyone makes it back off the routesafely; report any accidents or issues.

Green Team:Looking for a best friend duo (with at least one person who can drive a 24’ truck) to follow behind the last rider and help the Pit Stops load their recycling and packaged garbage on to your truck. This team is responsible to ensure the route and all route stops/event sites are restored to their original condition prior to our arrival. Ideal for green minded people! Some lifting required. Drivers for trucks are needed (24’ truck).

Camp Based Teams

Gear:This team manages the collection and distribution of all participant gear throughout the event. The Team will load all gear into trucks in the morning, then off-load gear in the assigned area at camp. Assists participants in locating their personal gear. Team may be asked to assist with the Sleeping Tents at Camp as well if needed. Lifting Required. Drivers for the trucks are needed (20’ truck).

Specialty Teams

Medical:Comprised of a variety of medical professionals, this team provides all first-aid medical services to participants at Opening Ceremonies, Camp and Closing Ceremonies, and will provide emergency service where necessary until local EMS/Paramedics arrive on scene. Medical Team will be screened as necessary for appropriate experience and training.
All Medical Team members must provide proof of their Medical License and Insurance.

Motorcycle Safety:Moto Safety works with Road Dispatch staff and local law enforcement to guarantee safe passage for Riders during each day's route. Assist at difficult intersections and other locations as requested. Team will be screened as necessary for appropriate experience and training.
Required to provide own motorcycle and helmet, a copy of your license, and proof of insurance.
