Welcome Back

Hello, my Mrs. Holly Noland and I will be your child’s study hall, tutoring and/or reading teacher. I will also be co-teaching with the 8th grade language art teachers—Mr. Brown, Mrs. Thornsley and Mrs. Green. I am so excited to be working with your student. Eighth grade is a critical year. Working together, we are preparing your child for high school.

In order to have a successful year, students will need to come to class prepared. If they are with me for tutoring or study hall, they are to bring their school work and a book to read. This year students may use their technical devices such as I-phones, androids, tablet etc. to do their school work. Parents can monitor their student’s work through Gradebook (previously known as Progressbook.) Parent log-ins will be sent to you my email from the TVMS office

For reading, students will continue to work on their Accelerated Reader as well as comprehension skills.

Please note that this year the entire 8th grade will be reading the same novels at different times throughout the year. Students are asked to buy their own copy of each novel when it’s time to read them. Johnny Tremain will be the first novel read.
