TEAM WARWICK PERFORMANCE PROGRAMME (TWP)

The TWP is aimed at clubs who want to improve the performance element of their club and are already or are aiming to compete at the top level in BUCS competitions. It is a Warwick Sport led programme where coaches, captains and the Warwick Sport Performance Team will work closely with your 1st Team squad to achieve performance related goals and targets.

Before you decide whether to apply please be sure that this is right for your club and your club as a whole support the application. Please note that there may be a cost implication for members of the TWP programme.

Benefits

Warwick Sport has recently invested and expanded its resources in performance sport to aid clubs in achieving their goal of having a 1st Team squad competing/striving to compete at the top level in BUCS competitions. Examples of the type of support this team could offer are a yearly periodisedapproach to training with preseason, in season and off season training, to include weekly strength and conditioning sessions, as well as sports psychology, nutrition,sports injury prevention and time management workshops. In addition, we will be actively involved with coach recruitment, the process of team/squad selections, some additional financial support, preferable training times (subject to availability) and compulsory review meetings to assist your development with the Warwick Sport Performance Teamat the beginning of the year and then at the end of each term.

Criteria

In return for the above benefits we expect a great deal of commitment from your 1st Team squad and as your club will be associated with this programme a professional manner at all times from your entire club.

This includes:

  • Representing your club and the University in a professional manner at all times
  • Full buy in and support from your coaches and support staff
  • Full attendance (coach and club representative) atpre agreed review meetings with Warwick Performance Sport Team
  • Wearing Team Warwick kit at all times when representing the University, being an ambassador for the brand
  • High attendance at pre agreed training sessions and workshops (agreed at stage 2)
  • Signed Service Level Agreement and completion of a Club Development Plan (your coach/we can help with this) Please refer to the Criteria document and sample of SLA for guidance
  • Be an ambassador at all times for the Performance Sport programme, Warwick Sport and the University
  • Attendance at Open Days and recruitment events as required by Warwick Sport to help promote Performance Sport (agreed at stage 2)
  • 100% commitment to fulfilling BUCS fixtures and fielding the strongest team possible in every match/game
  • Agreeing to be part of a Coach and Warwick Sport led programme

Process

Stage 1 – Application form, please complete the attached form under the guidelines provided

Stage 2 – Clubs who are successful at stage 1 will be invited to an interview with Warwick Sport Performance Team representatives.

Key dates for application process

  • Stage 1 applications open 10th March
  • Closing date for applications 14th April
  • Invites to stage 2 interviews sent out 19th April
  • Unsuccessful applicants at stage 1 sent out 19th April
  • Stage 2 interviews for applications, 25th, 26th and 28th April (Club representative and coach mandatory – Please add these to your diary now)
  • Confirmation of TWP clubs 5th May
  • Unsuccessful applicants at stage 2 sent out 5th May
  • Successful clubs will meet with Team Warwick Performance Team and their coach before the end of term 3 to discuss a summer training schedule
  • Unsuccessful clubs will have the opportunity to meet with the Performance Sport Team to discuss their application following the entire application process (week commencing the 8th May)
