Dear All

Early Summer Newsletter

We have had a very good start to this season with only the first few competitions not being played due to the inclement weather. Turnouts have been a bit mixed but it is good to see so many people playing each Wednesday.

If you have put your name down for a competition but have not been down to the clubhouse recently please look at where all draws are placed and where all the news and scores are updated regularly.

Course

For the few people who have not been playing golf recently I am pleased to confirm that when Wes McGregor spoke to John Hiroz last week he confirmed that the Kenmore Hotel had secured the lease of the course for a further 3 years, which hopefully means more security for the Club. This is extremely good news as it means we can have a bit of stability for our playing arrangements.

As I am sure you will all agree the course is looking good. We are very grateful to the men for measuring and placing the Green stakes which are to at the left hand side of the fairways marking 150 yards to the centre of the green. There are a number of areas around the course marked “Ground under Repair”. The bunkers to the left of the 6th green and the 7th green which were filled in a couple of years ago have also been reinstated. The new bridge at the 5th makes getting round the course much easier and safer.

Golf Clinic

There was a very successful golf clinic in the middle of March attended by a number of men and one lady. A great day was had by all. Gavin Dott is thinking about arranging a few more of these and if anybody is interested please contact myself or Charlie Campbell on

Taymouth Castle Golf Club Website

This has now been updated and there is a Gallery of photographs taken over the last few years.

Mail on Sunday Competition

The Ladies Team played away at Dunkeld and unfortunately were beaten in all matches except one. Thank you to the team of Barbara Pitney, Heddie Straw, Anne Beeson and Ann McGregor for taking part.

Daily Mail Competition

Anne Beeson and Ruth Campbell have played two rounds of this competition and won both, the first against Crieff and also against Killin. We wish them the best of luck in the next round playing away against Dunning.

Outing

The outing this year is to Kirriemuir on Friday 30 July. We will be playing in the Senior Open at a cost of £10.00 each plus there will be a charge for food but I think this will be a further £10.00 making a great day out for around £20.00. Anybody who would like to join in please either put your name up on the board or let me know if you are not going to be down at the clubhouse.

Further fixtures

There is a notice up on the board about the Taymouth Ladies v Taymouth Men which will take place on Saturday 5 June. It would be really good to have a large team turn out and try and better last years draw. Again if you can’t be down let me know and I will add your name.

We had a very good turn out for the Douglas Bader Mixed Competition on Friday 21 May (8 couples) and it would be good if we could have a great turnout for the Save the Children Qualifier on Friday 11 June. If any lady does not have a partner please let me know and I will try and find somebody.

Regards
