UIL Contest Schedule

TREBLE CHOIR and TENOR BASS CHOIR

Tuesday, March 22nd

Our biggest competition of the year is finally here! Our Choir students will be competing in the UIL Concert & Sightreading Contest on Tuesday, March 22nd. We have been practicing our concert music and preparing to sightread for a panel of 6 judges. If they award us with First Division ratings in both halves of the competition we will bring home a trophy for the school.

Here’s the details for Tuesday, March 22nd:

  1. Bring $7.00 with you. This is for CiCis Pizza and a drink. CASH ONLY, EXACT AMOUNT!
  2. On Tuesday, March 22ndbring your formal uniform in the blue hanging bag to the Choir Room before 1st period.

BOYS-

  1. You will come to the Choir Room at the beginning of 1st period. You will come wearing your formal uniform and shoes with school clothes in your blue bag.
  2. We will have a short rehearsal during 1st period.
  3. The bus will leave SMS at 8:45AM to go to Sachse High School in Sachse. When we arrive at the high school we will go to the auditorium to watch some choirs compete.
  4. We start competing at 9:50 and finish at 10:50AM.
  5. We will leave Sachse HS and go to CiCis Pizza in Mesquite at Galloway/Town East for lunch.
  6. We will return to SMS by 12:00PM, change into school clothes, then go to 5th period. Formal uniforms will stay in the Choir Room – we are done with them for the year.

GIRLS –

  1. Go to 1st-4th periods. You will eat lunch at school at your normal time. After lunch, come to the Choir Room to change into formal uniforms
  2. The bus will leave SMS at 1:15PM to go to Sachse High School in Sachse. When we arrive at the high school, we will go to the auditorium to hear some choirs compete.
  3. We start competing at 2:30PM and will finish at 3:30PM.
  4. We will leave the high school and go to CiCis Pizza at Galloway/Town East.
  5. We will return to SMS by 4:45PM, change into school clothes. Formal uniforms will stay in the Choir Room – we are done with them for the year.

Parents are welcome to come to Sachse to watch the contest.Girls’ parents can pick them up from Sachse High School or CiCis Pizza if you need them to be somewhere else before 4:45PM.

We need parent chaperones if you are interested. (I need help!) Please email me if you are willing to be a chaperone.
