Appointments

  • Two main types of doctor appointments are offered

Routine Appointments

  • These appointments can be booked by telephone, at reception or by using the Emis Access online service (please register at reception for Emis Access).
  • Bookings can be made up to 3 weeks in advance
  • You are able to choose the doctor you would like to see. Please express your preference to the receptionist when booking your appointment.

Urgent Appointments

  • These appointments are booked on the day by the duty doctor. Patients who have urgent medical problems should telephone between 8am and 10am. The duty doctor will call back.
  • You will not be able to choose the doctor you see for an urgent appointment.
  • There is no walk in service

Home Visits

  • The decision to provide a visit at home is at the discretion of the doctor.
  • They are only intended for genuinely housebound patients or for the very few patients whose current illness makes them unfit to attend the surgery.
  • Lack of transport is NOT a reason to request a home visit.
  • Patients requesting a home visit must contact the surgery before 10am.

Requesting Repeat Medication

  • Prescriptions are printed on an FP10 form. This has a left (green) side and right (white) side. When prescriptions are submitted to a pharmacist the right side should be retained by the patient. This lists all medications which the doctor has authorised to be prescribed regularly.
  • These medications can be requested by ticking the relevant entries on the list and submitting it to a local pharmacist or placing it in the designated box in reception.
  • Patients are encouraged to register to use the “Emis Access” service to make online requests for repeat medication. Unique registration details should be obtained from the Reception Desk (photographic ID is required).
  • It takes 2 working days for the surgery to process a prescription request.
  • Prescriptions may be collected from the surgery or, preferably, delivered directly to a pharmacy but time must be allowed for the pharmacy to collect the prescription and dispense the medication.

Patient Responsibilities and Behaviour

  • Patients are expected to act responsibly in their use of the surgery and ensure that they attend appointments or cancel well in advance.
  • All staff members are entitled to work in a respectful and peaceful environment. Abusive or aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated. Patients who abuse the surgery or staff may be involuntarily deregistered.

Disabled Patients

  • The Surgery premises has two spaces allocated for those with a Blue Badge, a ramp to the entrance and a toilet adapted for the disabled.
  • We have a wheelchair for use within the building which is situated in the foyer.
  • A portable induction loop is available for hearing aid users.
  • Signing interpreters can be arranged where necessary.
  • Hearing and guide dogs are welcome.
