BAND APPLICATION
WHO can sign up? Any student entering grades 5-12, who is currently studying a band instrument.
WHY take lessons during the summer? Summer lessons provide an excellent opportunity for students to further develop their musical talents. Students who do not participate in summer lessons often regress and need the first two months of school to review what they have lost. It is also an opportunity to focus more on fun music (pop, jazz, movie themes, etc).
WHAT does the program offer? Each student receives five private half-hour lessons. This year’s teachers include Miss Laura Grybel, Miss Erin Keppner, Miss Nina Komosinski, and Mr. Will Jenney. Students are matched up with a teacher who specializes in their instrument family.
WHEN? Lessons are once a week from July 9th-August 10th. If camp, vacation, or some other conflict will cause the student to miss a lesson, one make-up lesson will be available for each student. No-show lessons will not be rescheduled (please let us know ahead of time).
WHERE? Iroquois HIGH School (2111 Girdle Road, Elma)
HOW much does it cost? $85.00 for 5 private lessons (which breaks down to $17 per lesson). Most private teachers and music stores charge $16-20 for a half hour lesson.
TO APPLY: Send your application, a check for the full amount, payable to Iroquois Central Schools and a self-addressed stamped envelopeto Molly Williams through the mail, or give them to your child’s music teacher. Preference for day and time of lessons is given on a first come, first served basis, so get your applications in early! You will be notified by mail during the last week in June of your time and room.
