Q2. What step do I need to take to be a family counselor? / A family counselor is a licensed mental health professional who has a strong understanding ofpsychologyand sociology principles, as well as practical knowledge of successful counseling strategies.
Preparation involves enrolling in advanced science, mathematics, andpsychology courses. To practice as a family counselor a person must obtain at least a master's degree and spend up to two years training under experienced professionals.

If you are 27 years of age and you are a Christian, and you do not know what you would like to become, does this mean you have no ambition? / No, but it is highly improbable that at that age you would not at least have an idea of what your interests are. That is a good point at which to start. Ask yourself these questions “What is it that I enjoy doing?” “Do I see myself doing this for the rest of my life?” At birth God placed in each of us the ability to do at least two things well. What should you do when you know what God has planned for you but it seems as if it is not fulfilling or you are having second thoughts? / If you have an idea of what God has enabled you to do but you lack inner peace, then seek God further, seek Godly counsel until you experience a settled peace. Q5. What are the qualifications needed to become a Judge? What are the struggles? / A judge starts out as a lawyer so one would first have to pursue a degree in law. In Jamaica, an individual must graduate from law school and become a member of the Jamaican Bar Association in order to become a lawyer.
The steps are as follows: Apply to become a member of the Jamaican Bar Association (JBA). To do this, you must meet the following requirements: be at least 21 years old, be a citizen of the British Commonwealth, have no criminal record, be of good character, have completed law school and received a legal education certificate. Additionally,
a practicing lawyer with at least five years of experience and membership in the JBA must submit a court application and attest to your sound character on your behalf. Once accepted, you will become a member of the JBA and can formally practice as a lawyer on the island.

Q9. Should I study medicine in Jamaica or abroad? Which is better? / The cost of studying medicine is very high wherever you may choose to study it. Currently the cost at the UWI is $2.5m per year. Costs in the USA range between US$20,000 – US$40,000 annually. The fee in the UK is about 9,000 pounds

Q10. How do you know that what you want is what God wants for you? / The Bible says in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths. Some of the ways in which God directs include: dreams, (open doors), someone asking you to do that thing and you discover that you like or enjoy it, by the areas of interest you have, desires.
Q11. (a) How do I become a certified teacher? (b) Do I get special training for slow learners specifically those with mental retardation? / There are several Undergraduate and Graduate programs of study offered at different insitutions throughout the island.
Q12. Are you aware of any job opportunities in Portland? / The Job Bank and the Labour Market Information System are two avenues for identifying job opportunities applicable island wide.
Q13. (a) As a teacher when things go wrong in your class, what do you do, e.g. Dealing with a bad student? (b) What are the subjects and skills needed to become a teacher? / a. Know your students. Understand them.
Have an interactive classroom. Disruptive students need a positive atmosphere in the classroom (shouting or rudeness won’t help)
Keep their attention and to keep them busy during the whole lesson.
Be prepared for the lesson, offer incentives for good conduct

Q15. I want to become a medical doctor but my heart is in Ministry, what do I do? / Seek God for the grace to handle both. It is possible that He can use your skills in a missionary capacity. In other words, become a doctor and offer yourself as a missionary, there is always a need for missionary doctors.
Q16. What does it take to become an Evangelist? / One of the gifts God gave to the Church was that of the evangelist. The work of the evangelist is to preach the word.
The best source of information for detailing the work of an evangelist is contained in the New Testament letters addressed to evangelists, which areTitus,I Timothy, andII Timothy. Each of these were written by the apostle Paul to evangelists, instructing them how to properly perform the work of a preacher.
Be persuaded of the truth of the gospel Romans 1:16 for I am not ashamed…. Strive for purity of doctrine. Love God and seek Him for a love for souls.

What you put in is what you are going to extract so lay a good foundation early.

What is your advice to a Pure and Applied Sciences student who intends to go into Medical Sciences, as being in Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences? / Because of the competitive nature of the enrolment process here in Jamaica for medical school, some prospective candidates have found it necessary to register in the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences as a first step to entering Medical School. If they complete the course with a good grade it guarantees them a place. To the person who takes that route I would say work hard and keep focused and pray that you win a scholarship.
