Championship Flight–It just so happened that Jason Hill, Mike Schlaak, and Matt Werner played together on Saturday at Mascoutin in the Stoneyard Shootout. At the turn, Hill led Werner by two and Schlaak by three after a front nine 35 (-1). The three continued to battle on the back nine with each holding the lead at some point or tied for the lead all the way down the stretch. Standing on the 18th tee box it was Hill and Schlaak tied at +1 on the day with Werner one back at +2 for the day. Hill made par on 18 while Schlaak and Werner each made bogey resulting in Jason Hill earning a hard fought victory in the 2015 Stoneyard Shootout. Justin Gestout made his return to the FCGT after finishing up his senior year of college in Iowa. It was also great to have Seth Oberschlake make his FCGT debut.

Nicklaus Flight(5+) – Cayden Janse followed up his 5th place showing at Thornberry Creek two weeks ago with a one-shot victory at Mascoutin. Fresh off graduating from UWSP, Janse is off to a hot start in his inaugural season on the FCGT. Jesse Troestler now has back-to-back 2nd place finishes to start the season, while Brad Steichen got back into the swing of things with a solid 3rd place finish. Per usual, this flight was very close with any of the competitors being able to pull off the victory. Congratulation Cayden on your first FCGT crown!

Player Flight(13+) – With a very nice score of 84; Nick Schreiter, Wes Bucholz, and Brian Mahlendorf competed in a 3-hole playoff with Mahlendorf earning his first FCGT victory. Mahlendorf went Par-Bogey-Par in the playoff to take home the title. Bucholz now has a 1st and a 2nd in his first two tournaments on the Fox Cities Golf Tour. Playing alongside Werner, Hill, and Schlaak all day, Schreiter said he just didn’t want to slow anyone down today but instead he posted his FCGT best score and his looking like a real contender this season. Luke Carroll and Troy Theis joined the FCGT today and it was great to meet them and have them compete.
